Re: [Chevelle-List] Winter driving...
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List My recomendation would be to get a car you don't care about for the winters. I drove my Chevelle daily for a winter...it was awful. All kinds of new rust popped up. Mostly from a previous owner cover up job, but the winter sure helped. To drive my Chevelle in the winter again would require sealing every square inch of metal in pullet-proof rust prevention. I started my restaration this winter, lots of rust I never saw while the car was together. :( Body work is expensive and some parts aren't reproduced. I won't risk rusting it out. Other people, though, seem to get along fine. The car has lasted (more or less) 30+ years already so maybe it's not all that bad. I just want my car around for a long time and I don't want to be fixing major rust more than once. Tim. I can only assume its during an off frame restoration when the money flows freely from ones pocket! [Chevelle-List] Winter driving...
Title: Winter driving... I'm wondering how many people out there actually drive their chevelle in the winter (i.e. salt,snow,etc...). I'm looking to buy a daily driver, I'd like to get a chevelle but I know I'll be driving it in the winter. Is there any way you can protect a car from winter driving? Or how about other recommendations for DD's, I wouldn't mind letting the salt eat away at a F*rd. JM '69 Elky www.angelfire.com/retro/project-69
