Re: [Chevelle-List] rear differential bushings

Dan,
I have had the bushings in about a year now. There is not any unreasonable
wear on them, they have some light scuffing but that is to be expected. You
CANT tighten the control arm mounting bolts down like with poly or rubber
bushings since it will bind. So I had to use nylon lock nuts to keep the
right torque (really light). I also greased them really well before
installing them, I think this is imparitive for the wear issue.

the lift bars replace the lower arms, so no need to box 'em, or the clown

well,
I had the rear end completely out of the car, and the lift bars were the first component to go back on the rear end.
woring in the garage with a floor jack, it took about 3 hours to do. Get yourself a nice alignment pin, it will help many times lining up the holes. Is it just me, or were the directions difficult to understand. It would probally have went much smoother if I were just swapping out the lowers and everything else had remained attached.

I have a set of B+B aluminum bushings in my 66. Surprisingly they were not
much harsher riding than the polyurithaine. I also recomend boxing the lower
control arms, BIG DIFFERENCE in the handeling and traction. it is just
welding a piece of 2x1/8 steel to the bottom of the arm. or you can buy the
kit from opg or muscle factory.

[Chevelle-List] rear differential bushings

2002-04-16 Thread Drippylimb
Howdy guys..
I just installed a set of South Side Machine lift bars on my 65 Malibu. Heres the problem. I need (want) to change the upper control arm bushings to polyurethane.
Most (all) of the companies sell them in sets of eight, but with the lift bars, I only need 4. Would anyone have half a set of bushing laying around that they would like to get rid of ?  My other option is buying a set of aluminum bushings from jegs, but i am not sure how well they hold up to everyday driving. Any Ideas ?

Thanks,
Dan McIntosh
