Re: [Chevelle-list] '66 clarification Question for seller -- Item#2459060650
Thank you Dale M. and Dave B. I was on the 138 side like most of us here. Upon further investigating I did see the Canadian letter of delivery. We learn something new everyday. Apology for '66 in the subject line - should been '67. Thanks again, Krister

I don't know. I know some of models went State side. I was at my parts place on the weekend and seen some of the 300 series emblems in the show case. I agree with Dale on this one. SS Chevelles were even small blocks in Canada. Larry (Z)

I fully restored a Canadian 1966 Malibu SS, original 283, 2spd. The Canadian cars they cheaped out on in 66 and used the 1965 Malibu SS emblems on them. The 1967 were Super Sports. http://members.tripod.com/benj30/110cee8e0.jpg I have the original 1966 Sales Flyer on my website and it has the Malibu SS in it also. http://home.golden.net/~benj/65e205d0.jpg Dave Ingersoll,Ontario My web site: http://members.tripod.com/benj30/ - Original Message - From: "Krister Meister" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "The Chevelle Mailing List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Monday, February 09, 2004 6:11 PM Subject: [Chevelle-list] '66 clarification Question for seller -- Item#2459060650 > > > > > I usually catch several people a month on Ebay selling '66 - '68 coupes > with 136 VIN's being passed off as Super Sports with out any disclaimer as > "clone" or "remake of a classic" etc. Some are aware some are not and most > update their description. Re: [Chevelle-list] '66 clarification Question for seller -- Item #2459060650
I dont know who told the guy that ... but that SS emblem on the back looks like it's off of an 64/65 Chevelle Malibu SS. that when they were really a Malibu SS. 136 is a dead give away for a malibu. this is nothing more than a clone... i'd like to see the build sheet that says it's a SS. Unless I'm off the mark here... someone is going to get taken but good. Donnie

RE: [Chevelle-list] '66 clarification Question for seller -- Item#2459060650
Before we're so quick to judge on this particular car, note that it's a Canadian Chevelle and they did indeed have "SS" cars that were not akin to the US 138xx Super Sport. Check http://www.team67.com/gallery/supersport/mel_anderson.htm for a good example - with Canadian documentation and it's a 283-Powerglide. Now, I don't know if Mel's car came with SS badges on the grille (along with the Malibu emblem) or SS badges on the rear, but note the rear quarter "Malibu SS" script, not "Super Sport" script. This car appears to have the same SS396 and Malibu grille emblems and "Malibu SS" script on the quarters. I'm not familiar enough with the engines available on these, but the documentation supplied supports the claim - http://www.classiccarsonline.ca/67chevelle/report.jpg. Firewall and underbody is painted body color which is typical of Canadian Chevelles from what I understand. Car looks legit to me. Dale McIntosh I've stopped 949 spam messages. You can too! Krister, Hey, hows it going? I email jackwads like him every time I see one of these advertised! It's guys like him that give me the attitude I have about fakes, sorry I mean clones, but it's people like him that try to rewrite history to screw the unknowing/unsuspecting/uneducated car buyer. They also get offended when you call them on it too, as if to say how can you question my integrity!! But most times they they send a nastygram back telling me to mind my own [EMAIL PROTECTED] business, these are the one's that end up on Team Chevelle with a whats wrong with this car post. What I like about those is in a couple of days you will see the auction was closed early DUE TO AN ERROR IN LISTING, give me a break. It's like the 67 Chevelle that was for sale with Impala VIN & Cowl tags on it, last I heard was the police was on it. Rocky = A Man And His Chevelle, It's A Beautiful Thing!! [Chevelle-list] '66 clarification Question for seller -- Item #2459060650
I usually catch several people a month on Ebay selling '66 - '68 coupes with 136 VIN's being passed off as Super Sports with out any disclaimer as "clone" or "remake of a classic" etc. Some are aware some are not and most update their description. However, below is the response I got from a seller today of a 136 VIN car that is listed as a "Chevelle Malibu SS". Now my question to the seller is approaching from the naive side, because I just want to see what kind of line I get back. Does the response I got back make any sense to those who have been around then?
