Bob, Sounds like a real good deal and an excellent restoration project. I paid about the same for my 65 Malibu 283/PG non SS and have not regretted it. I have turned down $10,000. for it. It is a 45,000 mile original car. Go for it. As I noted earlier, a white on white SS would really be different when there were probably more red Chevelles around than you can shake a stick at. Good luck on the negotiations! You might check the VIN as well. The car is probably a V8 car but in 64 and 65, GM plants had a habit of putting 138 coded trim tags on 137 VIN cars. It has all bells and whistles available and has 90k on speedo which I believe is original as well. Steel painted wheels w/ SS full caps, buckets, dual exhaust, everything is factory original. Sitting is Nevada sun for at least 4 years, dash pad and package tray need to be replaced, rest of interior in surprisingly good condition. He is asking 8k but may negotiate.
