Don't know what happen to the BB,, I had a 66 396 that came out of parts car so I am putting that back in the 66. The 396 has the oil pressure line brass fitting that comes out about 1 inch and then turns upward. The z bar is hitting it, thought about taking the z bar and cutting the arm off moving it over the 3/4" I need and welding it back( but I have already powdercoated it). I was hoping somone might know what the difference is, I looked in the parts book, but no picture of the two part numbers. Thanks for the information, may be easier to figure out a new fitting. Really enjoy the list, great information and people on the list. I have been lurking for about 3 months, this was my first post. David

When I swapped in the big block, I reused the original z-bar. I recently bought a big block z-bar and the only difference between the two is the arm that goes to the clutch fork is bent back toward the rear of the car compared to the six z-bar that is straight. Neither one of them hit my oil pressure sender. HTH. Herb Lumpphttp://users.adelphia.net/~hlump/index.htm

Title: Message If you haven’t reassembled the 396 yet, you can tap into the oil galley at the front bottom left of the block just above the pan rail. See photo at http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/396guy/oil_pressure_port_small.jpg You almost have to pull the allen-head plug just after the block has been dipped to get it free but it can be used. The photo had a brass plug when it was taken but I used it for a second oil pressure source.
