Well I would trade it for a 68-72
posi 12 bolt if someone was interested. This one is a 331 posi and it is coded
for a 1966.

I would trade that rear for a 68-72 unit. Those
early rears are getting harder to find.

Or you could do what I did with the 66 rear in my 70,
weld the 68-72 brackets on it :-)Tom

Yes, there is a cup like bracket that goes inside of the spring and a
bolt the runs up the middle you can probably pick up a set at Sloans in
CA... that's where I got mine.

Just curious, Donnie.  I assume it’d
still require a 66 type flat spring?

[Chevelle-list] 66 Rearend in 70 Chevelle

2005-06-04 Thread Matt Wettig

Hey guys,
   I picked up a 66 12 bolt posi rear
for my 70 chevelle. I know the 66 rear is narrower than the 70. My question is
this. The mounting for the coil springs are different on the rear. What holds
the springs on the rear? The 66 has a flat plate with a hole in the middle. Is
there a bracket to hold the coil springs? Thanks in advance.
