[Chevelle-list] Back Package tray ideas
Hey guys, Does anyone have any ideas as far as the back package tray goes in a 70 chevelle? The one from OPI is like a cardboard piece that bows over time. Anyone have any websites that have done a custom package tray? All I can come up with is using a carpet or something to that nature. Thanx, Aaron

I built a tray for some 6X9's for my old 64 Impala. I used 1/4" thick tempered hardboard, covered with a layer of cotton batting, and then some color matched vinyl. The factory one had a taller "finishing strip" on the front edge, so I recreated that as well. The result was, it looked like stock, but provided a great mounting surface for the speakers. you can kinda see it in this picture. http://www.lowriderimpala.com/pics/plaque.JPG good luck! Hi Aaron, I have a 70 Malibu and for a short fix used what you did which is just cardboard so I could make the 2004 Midwest Chevy Nationals Memorial day weekend, and of course it rained, the rear window leaked and warped and ruined the package tray. I purchased a new one from C.A.R.S. Inc. which is a mesh covered tray with a jute backing. This is what my car had originally. You can get it with two cut outs for stereo speakers which do not show because they are covered with the mesh, or without. This company also sells your entire interior needs. The nice part is that they manufacture them themselves, and actually sell them to most of the other suppliers. I purchased from them my head liner which came with sunvisor covers included and it looks great. Hope this helps. www.carsinc.com Best regards, Chuck Speake Cell Phone: (630) 776-0314 [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, October 29, 2004 9:12 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Chevelle-list] Back Package tray ideas Hey guys, Does anyone have any ideas as far as the back package tray goes in a 70 chevelle?
