[Chevelle-list] carpet
Has anyone ever dealt with a carpet place called "Auto Carpet Originals" ? i think they are in Florida, and north Carolina. i ordered a carpet from them at a show in June, and just got it, after calling them numerous times and only getting an answering machine, then finally getting through one day they claimed they had not gotten a sample- (which i sent about a week after the show) so I sent another sample, and when I got it, the color is so far off its nuts. Now I am in the answering machine thing again. Just wondering if anyone else has dealt with them- PO box 586, kernersville NC 27285 813-480-7966 thanks Harlan
[Chevelle-list] Carpet - Outstanding Service
Last week I was asking about cut pile carpet for my elky. On Tuesday noontime, I ordered it from here: http://www.auto-interior.com/ Friday nite I get home from work & its sitting on my door step. Unbelievably fast. Its from ACC and had to be custom made. I won't open it til monday so won't comment on quality but I don't remember any negative comments about them. -- Rick Schaefer 72 TPI El Camino
Re: [Chevelle-list] Carpet
Thank you. I found another ACC vendor with an interactive web site & I can see what colors are available in the cut pile. Seems cheaper too. On the subject of "cheaper too" , it seems as if you are better off, NOT buying directly from the manufacturer (ACC in this case). Almost every web vender I looked at sells the same item cheaper than ACC. No compete clause I'd guess. On Jan 21, 2008 5:57 PM, Jim H. Re: [Chevelle-list] Carpet Clean up Special
I purchased some of Dave's trunk carpets. These are excellent pieces and well worth the money spent. They do finish off any trunk. The carpet is of very high quality, I would buy again if anything ever happened to the carpets I now have from him. Again, they are well worth the money. John L. Re: [Chevelle-list] Carpet Cleaners
Funny carpet story: Many years ago while visiting relatives, one of my cousins tossed her cookies in our full size van. Nothing worked to get the stink out after many cleanings so my Dad and Uncle removed all the seats and took the entire, one piece carpet, to a local Laundromat. Washed and dried it there. Brought it back. They started to reinstalling it in the front and worked their way back. Only to realize when the got towards the back that the carpet had shrunk 2 inches in length - imagine that. After they loosened every thing except for the very front - it was quite a sight watching 2 grown men, with feet on the rear bumper, trying to stretch the carpet back. They finally got it. Krister Meister I think new carpets are only about $100 and after the aggro of removal and installation might be better than trying to make something 30 years old look OK again. Re: [Chevelle-list] Carpet Cleaners
The absolute best thing I have found, is to remove the carpet and pressure wash with a small pressure washer (1000 psi). I realize this is kind of extreme but you will be AMAZED at what will run out of that carpet, even from the places that you thought were clean! I bought a car once from a smoker, the car looked as clean as it could be, BUT it had the stale smoke smell. I removed the seats and carpet and pressure washed them, the water drained dark brown. All of these carpet cleaning products say that that "lift" the dirt out of the carpet where it can be vacuumed away (?) I just don't see how that is possible. Every time I have tried them it has appeared that I was just grinding the dirt in further. Herb Did you try asking them for a type instead of auto carpet? Try asking if they have the loop type (in our cars), or the cut pile which is what most of the aftermarket cheapo carpet for cars is. Most automotive carpets are supplied by only a few companies: Collins & Aikman; HP Pelzer, Reiter Automotive, Guilford Mills, and Lear Masland. My guess would be Guilford Mills but it could be any of them. I have never heard of a "distributor" that I know of - I think everyone gets their stuff directly from the manufacturers. -Original Message-From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Herbert LumppSent: Wednesday, August 28, 2002 12:48 PMTo: Chevelle ListSubject: [Chevelle-List] Carpet Can anyone suggest some places I might be able to buy some auto carpet? Re: [Chevelle-List] Carpet install?
Jeff, I did my carpet about 2 months ago. Besides letting it sit in the sun, it is a very good idea to install all of the bolts into the floor pan before laying the new rug. This will make it much easier to find all of the holes. I also found that I had better control over the size of the hole I cut in the carpet with a pair of tin snips rather that a razor knife. As for the adhesive, I only put it on the bottom of the sound deadener, none on the carpet. Hope this help some... Take it easy Dan McIntosh 65 Malibu
[Chevelle-List] Carpet install?
Just about ready to install the new carpet and underlayment. I remember the tip about letting the carpet sit out in the sun to become flat but are there any other tips?
