RE: [Chevelle-list] Chevelle on a movie cover
I have to agree on the NASCAR content on Speed - there's way TOO much of it! In spite of the NASCAR overdoes, I still tune in try to catch motorcycle racing, drag racing, and SCCA racing. I wouldn't recommend that. It is the most cheesy bizzare movie I ever saw...and you don't get to see much of the car. I believe they did that on purpose because it had a 70 front clip, a 71-72 rear bumper, SS markings (with a Malibu dash). I think it just made me mad. If you are really twisted, you might like the parts in the movie where the "car gang" worships an engine by placing it in the middle of a pentagram, stripping down to their underwear and workboots, and marching around it. Personally, I had to fast-forward through the parts where they rubbed motor oil over each other. As far as Speed TV. I agree. I don't even watch it anymore and usually tune into the Horsepower Block on Spike TV. RE: [Chevelle-list] Chevelle on a movie cover
Yeah, after I posted my message, I read a review on imdb.com and it mentioned something about stripping down to their underwear and it sounded really, really bad. -Dave -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, December 22, 2004 7:10 PM To: The Chevelle Mailing List Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] Chevelle on a movie cover I purchased Speed Demon without actually watching the movie. [Chevelle-list] Chevelle on a movie cover
I was at Blockbuster last night and saw a movie with a '70 on the cover. I think it was called Speed Demon. The description on the back of it was something like "a group of hot rodders take over a small town and conjur up the supernatural in their quest for speed" while some guy tries to take the town back from the leader, who I believe drives the '70. Or maybe the hero drives the '70. It looked pretty cheesy, but I couldn't pass up a a movie with a Chevelle on the cover without picking it up for a second. :-) It looks like something they would've shown on the old Lost Drive-In on NASCAR TV -- err, Speed TV. I figure someone here might find it interesting or amusing. Maybe I'll rent it next time I'm up there. [Begin Speed TV rant] As an aside, is there anyone else here who thinks Speed TV has absolutely gone to hell and is wy over-exposing NASCAR? The channel is almost unwatchable anymore, as I could almost care less about NASCAR. (NASCAR is WWE on wheels -- it's all about the personalities/drama, IMO, but that's another rant) You could watch that channel and never even know that NHRA exists. A non-car person watching that channel would think motorsports in this country was either NASCAR or imp0rt tuner and nothing else. Maybe I just watch at the wrong times. [End Speed TV rant] -Dave
