3902406 was a 1967 block number. used in the
325,350,375hp engines, 24 bolt. A PF35 should work
just fine. I use the PF25 on my car, the 35 is just
the longer version of the 25, has a slightly larger
capacity.

Did those engines come with spin on filters?
If not could different brands of adaptors use different filters?

1967 blocks still used the canister filter. If memory serves,I've seen some
adapters that require Ford filters and some GM...could be the difference
you're experiencing.

[Chevelle-list] Engine ID and which oil filter

2004-04-03 Thread 38 Coupe
I have a 69 396 Chevelle SS. I bought a PF35 filter but the filter I took
off has the rubber gasket closer to the center and the hole is smaller
diameter. The engine block next to the filter says PASS, K, 14, HIPERF. The
casting number behind the drivers side head is not a casting but instead
stamped with 3902406. What motor do I have and which filter should I buy.
Thanks
