Re: [Chevelle-list] Out of Touch?
Its a kit car. Sitting in 4 pieces at my sons house. We bought it for his HS graduation and he drove it for 5 or 6 years. Was a small journal 327 with T-10 4 speed. Its been sitting in various stages of disrepair since. I assumed ownership in lieu of debt. I am near the point where I will have time to devote to it. I promised him that we will move it to my garage by Labor Day, we'll see. Passenger front fender was pushed in right at the front corner, looked like they sideswiped a garage door.Looked like a 10 year old Earl Sheib paint job. Interior looked like it was recently done. Door panels looked original with repair carpeting added at the bottom 6 inches-I don't think that was original. Carpet good, Front bench seat cover looked relatively new & clean except for a 2 inch gash under the drivers butt. Recent aftermarket A/C added but the water pump pulley had no provision for a belt Motor looked like it could have been original. As I raised the hood to look at motor I asked how much. 20K! And the look on my face must have confused the girl, she said, oh wait a minute let me check the list inside. A minute later she returned Oh I was wrong its 30K! What the heck are these dealers smoking? I went in thinking it would be in the 10-15K range. It was certainly an OK driver but 30K is premium money for a 65 - at least I think it is. I went there with the intent of really looking it over good, but decided there was no point for further discussion. Is it possible/likely/reasonable to look for a 65 convertible in the 10-15 K range that isn't a basket case? Re: [Chevelle-list] Out of Touch?
Absolutely, positively, without a doubt: there's a lot of crack smoking going on at that dealer. Top price of a *perfect* original 65 Malibu Convertible is around $35k. Price for a car like the one you describe is $12-$15k, IMO Karl Groves http://www.karlcore.com <http://www.karlcore.com/> http://www.grayscalecms.com <http://www.grayscalecms.com/> http://www.thehotrodclassifieds.com <http://www.thehotrodclassifieds.com/> http://www.8pistons.com <http://www.8pistons.com/> _ From: Rick Schaefer [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, August 14, 2007 1:10 PM To: chevelle-list@chevelles.net Subject: [Chevelle-list] Out of Touch?
