Re: [Chevelle-list] always late on this stuff :ugh:

2004-09-26 Thread Mike Holleman

Guys, The so called fuelie heads had no mounting holes. The
brackets mounted to exhaust bolts and intake bolts. I did not know March even
had a serpentine setup for this arrangement. My 65 Elky has these heads and this
has always been a problem for me. I modified and improved aftermarket mounts and
still have a tough time keeping my Alt belt from squealing.

I
don’t have any info but I feel for you. It's a tough thing when you put a
lot of heart and soul and cash into a project and get beat up for it. I'm
curious to know why there are no accessory holes in the heads. Even a very
old engine needs brackets and pumps.

Hi
everyone!
I'm
kinda wanting a serpentine set-up on my 283 small block without accessory
holes in the heads.
Anyone know where
I can find a reasonably priced setup for this motor?
MARCH
wants around 1800.00 for theirs.  That price makes me sad in the
pants!

BTW,
my new 64 Impala SS droptop will be coming home tomorrow after much hassle
and heartache, and even some smashed sheetmetal.  What an ordeal this
has been.  All I hope is that the car is really good to me since up
till this point, it has been such a PITA!

Thanks
all!

Interesting. Mine is a 1958 block but the heads are early
70s.

I think GM saved money by using the holes in the heads
to mount stuff from.  Less brackets, less weight, less $$.  I think
that happened around 68-70 and I think the short water pump went away at that
point.  I am going from memory and that seems to be fading faster than my
hair at this point.  Great looking picture Dan.
