Re: [Chevelle-list] original color or not?
I have got a 70 Chevelle that i bought rom the original owner about ayear ago. He painted it several times and it currently has an Olds 442 Green on it. I really don't like it , but the car is in great shape. I will probably repaint it to its original color in about a year. The original color was Medium Green Metallic Mist. The is a car on Chevelles .com it belongs to a Rich Recupero and it looks pretty sharp. just a thought you might want to check it out. Dave
Re: [Chevelle-list] original color or not?
To each his own. :-) My chevelle's original color was spring green metallic and I think it looks great (where I can still see the paint). Spatch - Original Message - From: Chad P. Don't get spring green, It looks good in pictures, but I've seen it in person and It looked terrible. My chevelle was Sequoia green (darkest green on the chevelles), and It was beautiful. It was the same as forest green in 1970. Get that color, lol. If It was me, I would paint the car black with white stripes, or blue with black stripes and black top. Thank you all for your responses. The interior is green. The transmission is the original 350 until I get a 200R model. I haven't been too concerned about the drive train as it's easy to put that all back together as it came from the factory. The paint is the issue of the decade. I have pondered it for years. Albeit I did sandblast the sea green off it a few years back, and it sits in primer now. All these responses are wonderful. If I had my way I would still paint it an Air Force gray with appropriate markings!. Talk about unique :-) I'm starting to lean toward my first cars color(a 71 Chevy Kingswood in dark green metallic) or the 72 Spring green metallic looks nice. I wish I could stand the sea green, but I really hate it. Of course I got it as a repo in 91 for $250 because I knew someone who owned the bank. I couldn't have cared less if it was barf green with stripes at that price. The biggest downfall is someone went way overboard with rustproofing and even got it on the hood hinges. The sandblaster didn't put much effort to removing it, (said it was impossible) Funny thing is it still flakes off in places. I'll still listen to opinions. You people are all great. I haven't seen Sarge online lately. I'm going back east for a month soon. I'll dwell more on it till I get back. Nice to see there are other women on board here. :-Diane Chevelle's- not just boy toys ;-)

Title: Message One could also add a small amount of pearl mica to the clear coat to give it a subtle custom look. That is what I have decided to do to my original color, code 14. That way I don't have to worry to much about my door jams and truck lid underneath. - Original Message - From: yenkochevelle To: The Chevelle Mailing List Sent: Thursday, October 16, 2003 4:15 AM Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] original color or not? Some of the original colors look better when done with modern base coat clear coat paint then they did with the original lacquer. For example, I never liked the 69 Camaro Rally Green but saw one with fresh base coat clear coat paint and it looked great. The clear gives it that shinny wet look that the original lacquer didn't have. - Original Message - From: Dale McIntosh To: 'The Chevelle Mailing List' Sent: Wednesday, October 15, 2003 6:30 PM Subject: RE: [Chevelle-list] original color or not? I dunno about Spring Green being an ugly color. Eyes of the beholder I suppose like anything else. There was a very pretty 72 Spring Green Chevelle at the ACES/Mid America show in 2002 with a set of Torq Thrust II wheels and white stripes that really set the car off nicely. I'm not usually into greens, but this one looked as good in person as it does in the photos. http://www.dalesplace.com/images/chevelle_shows/ma2002/p001334.jpg http://www.dalesplace.com/images/chevelle_shows/ma2002/p001317.jpg Admitedly, I saw a 72 Heavy Chevy the same color at Tulsa the same year but it had the ugly (IMO) 72 factory wheels and it didn't look half as nice simply due to the wheels. A nice set of TTII's would have done wonders for it. http://www.midwestchevelles.com/past_shows/mw2002/70-72/p001420.jpg The really nice thing about our hobby, you can choose what you like :*) Dale McIntosh -Original Message-From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Chad P.Sent: Wednesday, October 15, 2003 1:15 PMTo: The Chevelle Mailing ListSubject: Re: [Chevelle-list] original color or not?
