Re: [Chevelle-List] Electrical problem...FIXED!!!

2002-12-08 Thread Larry Brown
All,

Wish I had listened about the dome light.. I don't actually have a dome
light anymore, so I didn't think that was the problem.. I really appreciate
all the help and the fact that you are all willing to share knowledge..

thanks
Larry

Danny, that's a great idea. I would never have thought of that. I'm going to
try it out the next time I have a problem.

A good tip to save fuses is to get a flasher (like the one that goes in the
fuse block or hangs somewhere under the dash) and wire some spade lugs to it
and make it where it can be attached to the two ends where the fuse plugs
into. This will make the flasher click if there is a short. When the short
is found, (by unplugging different harnesses), the flasher will go silent
and you will know that you have located the place where the short was. And
you saved a lot of blown fuses..

: One of the ways I track stuff down is to unplug the harnesses.
:
: 1.Most have a plug that goes to the harness under the carpet which feeds
the
: trunk, try that first and put in fuse.
:
: 2. If it holds try the plug in the trunk (plug the one under dash back
: together).
: Unplug and put in fuse. If fuse holds then check out back harness. Light
: bulbs can also short out if they quit the wrong way.

So does this mean that someone removed the light but left the wires
.and the tape came off after a while and grounded out the wires to
the body?
