2005-10-31 Thread Ed Riggins
We did have lots of fun and actually got a bit of work done on his Chevelle
while denting the Grappa supply. I think I kept up with the Italian drivers
OK although my wife probably went through a year's supply of valium in 3
weeks. Heidi was a very gracious hostess and I am thankful her aim in the
car was off that night or I'd probably still be there learning lots of
medical terms in Italian...

Hi all,

I havent been on the list the whole summer so I would like to send a big hi to
all
on the list, especially to those who missed me (now that is a short list! haha)

I havent been here because I'm trying to detox from americans, before you all
get
angry and start yelling and telling me how a racist and stuff I am, in my
defense I
have to tell you that I met some really really bad examples from this list.
I started out meeting Herb at the end of Power Tour in Kissimee, he talked me
into
drinking beer and then we went dragracing on a machine in old town, and thats
all
stuff I normally dont do.
THEN! Mr. Ed Riggins came to Europe with his wife, well lets say it in this
way, the
Eiffel tower is now pending and the Pisa tower is straight and the Colusseum
isnt
looking very nice either.
We got so tired of him and we wanted him so badly to never come back so the

of their visit my GF tried to back over him with the car.

I still take my medecine but now I'm back

2005-06-26 Thread André-Tigergutt
Larry & Clint,

We landed in Miami, and picked up the super special rental car, an amazing
corolla with four doors :O), then we worked our way over to naples and did
the coast up to tampa and then to Orlando, then to Daytona (I love that
place) and back to Orlando and down to miami again and two weeks and lots of
dollars later flew home with the suitcases stuffed with car parts and
clothes and things that were either cheaper or unavailable here in Europe.
All in all about $9-10K went out this time and that includes like $1-1,5K of
car parts and tickets and everything.

For my Chevelle I had four complete qa-1 coilovers and a much needed digital
protractor plus some small stuff.
Then I carried 20lbs of chrome moly rod ends for a friend and some 35lbs of
msd dragster ignition parts for another friend.
Then due to the bad weather we shopped and shopped and shopped :o)

I also managed to see the end of the power tour and to meet Herb and his
friends, and we spent the night together in Kissimee at a restaurant and
drinking a few beers in old town.

RE: [Chevelle-list] I'm back & stuff for sale...

2004-10-26 Thread Herb Lumpp
Actually, Christmas has been a slow and painful process. I planned early
last summer to do these changes over the coming winter so I had to get the
parts. I originally wanted the 600 because it's rated for 600hp/600lbs but
I didn't like the gear ratios it had. The 500 ratios are 3.27, 1.98, 1.34,
1.0, 0.68 compared to the 600 with 2.87, 1.89, 1.28, 1.0, 0.64 (0.82
optional). After talking with the Keisler guy, he said the 500 would be
more than stout enough to handle what I am building. He did make a good
point - 95% of the time the tranny won't be feeling the peak output of the
engine and when it does, it's only for short periods of time. It's rated
for 550hp/550lbs and I'm expecting (according to Dyno 2000) to be in the
550-600hp range. If everything goes well I'd like to run the engine on a
dyno before I put it back in the Elky so I know for a fact what it's got.

My,my! Christmas has come early to the Lumpp household. :-)) You spent
some serious buckeroos there,my friend.
Any particular reason you chose the TKO-500 over the 600? Or,did you buy it
before the 600 became available?

Herb, This is a Chevelle list. The Tempest was made by The P word div of GM.
Yeah, The Tempest will have an overdrive trans(automatic) behind the 421.
The Elky will get one too at some point. Most likely a T56. Congrates to you
and Carol on 11 years of marriage. Linda and I are working on our 24th year

Josh

At least your 66 was going to die a dignified death on a race track.
Unlike the 65 I just bought for 300 from a guy that drops all his cars in the
weeds. I couldn't see her dragging her belly on the road.
He said he had some new drag plates he was going to install so when he was
going down the road he could lower the shocks and throw sparks for 50 ft.

I had that problem also with ARP main bearing studs and also with ARP head
bolts on my 427. The headers didn't fit because the lower head bolts stuck up
too high with the washers. I hate the 1/2 socket head of the ARP head bolts
that don't look close to stock size. I don't use any ARP bolts anymore except
for rod bolts

Been There Done That..I fortunately checked for clearance on my BBC and could
not see light between the stud and pump. I ground off enough oil pump
casting..more than you would think.. so I could see daylight. I've also seen
hardened oil pump driveshafts that have sleeves thicker than others. This is
another area to check for clearance.

The Navy affectionately refers to the Coast
Guard as "Shallow Water Sailors" or my favorite, "Puddle Pirates" which means if
our boat sinks we can walk back to shore as long as we're 6' tall.  Navy
guys think it's funny so us Coasties humor them. :)

Larry;

It's pretty old.. and I hope Herb is not sensative to this.. but the Navy usually
gives the Coasties a hard time - standard line is -

-- You have to be six foot tall to get in the Coast Guard - That way if the boat
sinks, they can walk back to dry land.. --

I went to Fleet ASW in San Diego in '89 for "A" school. From there I was in
pipeline training for another year or so before I finally went to the CGC
Sherman, a 378' cutter. Small by comparison, but big enough!

As for a conflict of interest, probably not since I don't have anything to

I belong to the Maryland Chevelle Club - there isn't one in VA that I know

Welcome back Herb!!

Let me know when you are all settled in DC. Most of the members of the
Maryland Chevelle club live down in that part of Maryland. They are a
terrific group of people. I usually attend most of the meetings from all the
way here in New Jersey! Here is a link to their web site. You could come
check out our annual show too in June.
