RE: [Chevelle-List] Update on my 69 Project

Don't feel bad Tom. I got my 69 into the
resto shop in November, and the guy hasn't even started it yet. He originally
said it would be ready by March. Somehow I think it will take a bit longer...

[Chevelle-List] Update on my 69 ProjectWell I thought I was going to be able to get
the old 69 Malibu out to the paint shop by the end of this month, not gonna
happen. The body work is mostly complete. We still have to hang
the new 1/4s on. I need an opinion here on the 1/4's too. The
repro skins I bought extend over the rocker panels eliminating the 1/4 panel
to rocker seam. What should I do about this? Is there any good way
to cut off the extra and bend the 1/4 so I don't lose that seem? I have
rustproofed the nearly the entire car except the outer sheetmetal that will be
painted with Eastwood's Corroless. I am still working on getting that
wretched undercoating off the bottom, I am about 1/4 done, lol. After I
am finished with that, I will rustproof the bottom with Corroless and paint it
black. Once that is finished, I will remount the body to the frame, bolt
it down, and reinstall the brake fuel lines. I have to still paint
the firewall and reinstall all of the components that go one (master cylinder,
wiper motor, heater box, etc.) The fenders, doors, hood, trunk still
need to be sanded. I am debating wheter or not to send it out with the
engine in it. I put the 454 in the 70 after it got painted, tried to be
as careful as possible but still managed to clumsily scratch the fender
extensions :(. I suppose I will have a nice work filled weekend busting
my hump on this car. I will try to get some c! urrent pics of it up on
my AOL homepage. Also, for those of you in the Maryland Chevelle
Club, they will be running an ongoing step by step article in their newsletter
over the next few months. My goal was to have it done and unvail it at
the Maryland Chevelle Club/ACES NE Regionals in June. I'll keep everyone
  posted on my progress. Tom

i brought my s10 to a shop for a back half pro-street, with a large deposit.
it sat for 2- years before the guy started to work on it, then in about
3-months time he cruised on it, called me one day (unexpected to me) wanted a
ton more money- i paid him, and was out of money, he kicked me out of the
shop, now i have a bare metal s10 in cold MN storage- hope it don't
rust!!!-

How many cars do you have? I can't imagine letting a project drag on 2
years without any progress

i think 12 at the current, i thought thats how all the chassis shops were.
it seems to be the case here, if you look in the newest car craft there is a
blue corvette in there, this was at another shop here in mn- that car was
hanging from the ceiling for over 3- years without any thing being done,
another guy has a 56 chev wagon there with only some core support work to be
done and i know that has been there over 5- years!!
