Welcom to the list Chris.

list. I just picked up a
 72 malibu(the last one I drove 13 years ago when I was
 18!) and was hoping
maybe someone here could point me in the direction of a
 good reliable
mechanic that has experience (or simply prefers) working
 on our cars and is
also located in the north jersey/passaic county area. I
 know I could take a
crack at trying to fix her myself, but I would rather
 leave it to a
professional and have the job done right the first time.
 I spoke briefly with
Al from Garden State Chevelles and he mentioned someone
 in Paterson who
supposedly only works on chevelles, but he didn't have
 the guys name or
number handy. Any suggestions? I live in Clifton and I
 need to have a bunch
of stuff taken care of right away as this is going to be
 my daily driver. I
need exhaust work (dual with headers, I think needs new
 mufflers), the
emergency brake doesn't engage, and the front driver-side
 fender needs to be
replaced. Of course there are other things that need
 attention, but for now I
just want to pass inspection and start cruising!
Any help would be very very appreciated!!
 thanks,

 Chris

I'm 1700 miles away so don't have knowledge of a specific shop, but
none of what you mentioned would need a real chevelle expert to fix.
Any good muffler shop should be able to handle the exhaust. The
emergency brake is not very complicated and any shop should be able to
handle it, unless there are parts missing. The fender could be handled
by a body shop or maybe a body man workin on the side at nite.
I can give you the email of someone from Somerset (is that close) who
may be able to help you. His first name is Jerry and his email is
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
He posts regularly at Chevelle Tech and I'm sure he will be able to
recomend someone. He has owned his chevelle since new -31 years- and has
over 555,000 miles on it. So he must know something about keeping one
running.
Welcome to the list and good luck with your new acquisition.

Hi Chris
Welcome to the list. I live in Gloucester County in South Jersey. I don't
know of any mechanics up there, but if you need some parts you can check out
Fall Englishtown. There is a huge swap meet/car show coming up in September
28-30. I will have my 70 up there for the car show. It is exit 8A off the
NJ Turnpike
