RE: [Chevelle-list] Assembly manual
Tom, According to a noted restorer, the base-line of Sport is on the same horizontal plane as the 2nd from bottom trim strip on the tail light and 1 1/8 inboard of the body seam. See the bottom of this page http://www.chevelleinfo.com/body/emblems/emblems.htm for details. Theres nothing in the AIM that Ive found but the source does many fine restorations and Id go with his measurements Dale McIntosh 67 El Camino 1967 Chevelle Facts CD in progress ACES #1709/TC Gold #92 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, April 27, 2005 12:13 AM To: Chevelle-list@chevelles.net Subject: Re: [Chevelle-list] Assembly manual Hey Dale, I'm having to figure out exactly where to put the Super Sport on the rear quarter too..did you ever figure it out? thanks, tom p
Re: [Chevelle-list] Assembly manual
Hey Dale or any other list member, is there a page for the location ofSS then 454 located directly beneath for a 1972? I have an assembly book, it gives the relation between the letters and #'s but do's not give a starting point on the fender . ie. 10''down from top of fender. 5'' in from door side. I need a starting point for all the other measurements to be in the right place.in construction we work off centers (center line) (elevations). maybe you can tell me, I may not be reading the assembly manual the right way? any help is appreciated. RE: [Chevelle-list] Assembly manual
My 67 AIM also shows the front emblem placement with reference to 0/0 lines. Check a little further in the manual for a page SHEET METAL CHECKING. Mine was sheet B12 in UPC 11-13 and looks like this: http://www.chevelleinfo.com/body/emblems/sheet_metal_checking_side.jpg The 0 horizontal line is 3.52 below the base of the fender/body and the 0 vertical line is, oddly, 38.92 back from the center-line of the radiator core support. RE: [Chevelle-List] Assembly manual advice
I think they are just authorized reproductions of the originals. It'd be scary of some individual began adding stuff. Do you have one in stock now? I can buy them all day for $25 with shipping included. If you can send one to me immediately (monday) for $25 total, then i would rather buy from a chevelle list member. think about it Kyle [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: In a message dated 6/15/02 9:13:27 AM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: I'm looking to buy an assembly manual for my 71 project car that i just bought. Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List The 0,0,0 are body zero datums. The fore-aft, or longitudinal zero is at the front of dash. The cross-car zero is based on the centerline of vehicle. The up-down zero in modern vehicles is based on the bottom outside of material of the rocker panel. I believe it used to be based on the bottom of the frame rail for our vintage of cars. These are x,y,z dimension values. X, is length. Y, is width. Z, is height. I'm a draftsman/designer for GM. Hope this helps. Dennis --- LXVIISS [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Lance, It was no big deal. The garage is connected to the house. Based on taking some measurements on my car and comparing them to the 1967 Assembly manual UPC 11-13, sheets B1 and B3, and UPC 1, sheet C1, it looks like the longitudinal 0 is the hood hinge rear bolt and the +5 location is the upper and lower front fender bolt at the firewall. The upper and lower bolts are in line vertically. Vertical 0 looks to be at the centerline of the front wheel spindle. That's the best I can come up with.
