I installed Hooker Competition headers on my 71 Chevelle and did not have
any trouble. I think I had to install by coming from below. I jacked the car
up and slipped them in.

I bought the "standard" Hedman 1 5/8" for my '70 and they've been
trouble-free since I got them in '98 or so. Seems like a lot of people have
complained about installing Hooker headers.

I believe rating on the engine was about 165hp when I
looked it up. The engine seens to be in pretty good
shape, but I'm not an expert. I do already have
electronic ignition, so I guess that's a plus. Headers
were another thing at the top of my list (besides
suspension/brakes). Recommend any brands in
particular??

Thanks!
