 Thanks for the help on the stanchions. We plan to go to the Detroit
Autorama 50th year Show. I'll look at their displays and see what we can

Brake rotors, some tubing (old driveshafts?), and some Stanchion Rope (only
$5.25 for 8 ft on the web) and you could cover the rope with velvet in your
cars colour (or paint the stanchions the exterior colour and do the rope in
the same colour as the cars interior) for the extra touch.  Or even chrome
them as shown below (from http://www.skperformance.com/SKP_STANCHTION.htm )
although I'd be tempted to blow some paint on homemade ones and call it quits.
