[cia-drugs] Akha Journal: Rotary International Supports the Akha Ethnocide

2006-07-14 Thread Matthew McDaniel

Dear Friends:     An open letter to Rotary International about their support of the CGT mission in Thailand which removes Akha children.     http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2006/07/342519.shtml www.akha.org http://www.rotary.org/newsroom/essays/ahka/index.html     The careful crafted photos and letters make the Akha out as helpless fools that Rotary must help, while complete silence about Thai human rights abuses, loss of land, land rights, conversion of the children without Free, Prior and Informed Consent from their parents, and of course the removal of the children from their language and culture.     We are not impressed with Rotary and this is about as bad
advertising for the organization as it gets. 28,000 chapters or not.     ** The investigations into the sexual abuse of Akha women in Laos continues. Both the Norwegian Government and the French agency have put together inadequate teams to look into the case, while not meeting any of our legal requirements for the protection of the women.     We will continue to keep you informed of this matter.     We continue to contact churches that support Paul and Lori who are involved in the conversion of an Akha village in Thailand. Responses from organizations like the foursquare church, are boring, they are so unimformed.     http://loriandpaul.hopedenver.com     We continue to build the Akha project in the US and will continue to post updates as they are available.
Matthew McDaniel           Our letter to Rotary:     Cease and Desist:     Rotary International has bought into the Ethnocide of the Akha people. http://www.rotary.org/newsroom/essays/ahka/index.html Plastered on their website is a carefuly crafted piece of propaganda that would only fool the most ignorant, about their involvement in supporting the confiscation of Akha children in Thailand by CGT Mission.     The CGT Mission at Mae Suai has been warned for years that their practice, their mission methods, of removing Akha children from their families and villages while remaining silent about Thai government human rights abuses and failing to take
any action to protect valuable Akha highland land rights was unethical. Further, CGT was informed that their conversion of the Akha children with the Free, Prior and Informed Consent of their parents, after their removal from their families, and their alienation from Akha culture and language content passed down via oral traditions in the villages was Ethnocide.     Asa insisted that they could do what they wanted with the Akha children. She hid behind that blank check Jesus, which is suppose to allow aboriginal children to be taken away by western people and organizations.      Akha legal advocates disagree.     Rotary, is in violation of its own standards in supporting CGT mission in Thailand and in carefully witholding information from its website about the true situation of the Akha people.      Many Akha villages which have land are able to support their
families. No where on the Rotary website or the CGT website is it mentioned that Thai human rights violations are the cause of poverty, not slash and burn better known as swidden agriculture.  The US Human Rights Report 2005 for Thailand gives a scathing report of human rights abuses, land seizures, forced relocations, extra-judicial killings, all which Asa and her supporters at the other missions in Thailand are well aware of. But as they put it, such conditions make the Akha ripe for conversion. Or is that Ethnocide?     We call on Rotary International to immediately cease and desist in their support for the removal of Akha children to the CGT center, in violation of their basic human rights.     An open letter has been posted to http://www.akha.org detailing how Trevi Albin of Rotary has helped in engineering this deception.
The open letter can also be seen here: http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2006/07/342519.shtml

[cia-drugs] Spy Nation

2006-07-14 Thread norgesen

Spy Nationby William Norman
GriggJuly 24,
2006

Does the
vast, immensely expensive, and largely unaccountable centralized intelligence
system created by the Bush administration really make us
safer?
Hassan Mustafa Osama Nasr, a
radical Islamic cleric residing in Milan, was on his way to the mosque for noon
prayers when he was seized by several men and stuffed into a van. From there he
was taken to the U.S. Air Force Base in Aviano, and flown to Egypt, where he was
imprisoned for more than a year and tortured at the hands of interrogators who
have distinguished themselves - even in the Middle East - for their pitiless
brutality. Eventually released to house arrest after the questioning yielded
nothing of value, the imam was able to make a phone call describing his
experience to his wife.
Nasr, who is also known as Abu Omar, is a veteran of mujahideen training
camps in Bosnia. At the time of his abduction from Milan in February 2003, Nasr
was under surveillance by Italian authorities, who were trying to learn of
contacts between the radical imam - an Egyptian who had been given refugee
status in Italy - and terrorist cells in Europe. Nasr's disappearance wrecked
the Italian terrorist investigation.
There was little mystery about the identity of those who had seized Nasr. The
abductors - a team of up to 22 CIA operatives - were about as stealthy as a
homecoming parade. According to the Washington Post, the snatch squad
conducted most of its communications via nonsecure cellphones, permitting the
Italians to re-trace all of their movements.
They also left behind a thick paper trail of "hotel registries, car rental
receipts, electronic highway toll passes and other documents" that were used to
identify the Americans, at least one of whom was positively identified as a CIA
officer. The operatives spent extravagant sums at some of Milan's most luxurious
hotels, such as the Principe di Savoia, "where a single room costs $588 a night,
a club sandwich goes for $28.75 and a Diet Coke adds another $9.35," noted the
Chicago Tribune. "The CIA's bill at the Principe for seven operatives
came to $39,995, not counting meals, parking and other hotel services. Another
group of seven operatives spent $40,098 on room charges at the Westin Palace, a
five-star hotel across the Piazza della Repupplica from the Principe."
One of the advertised functions of the CIA is to provide timely, reliable
intelligence not only to the president and key congressional policymakers, but
also - when necessary and appropriate - to close allies, like the Italians. Yet
a few weeks after Nasr's abduction, the CIA told Italy's counterterrorism police
"that it had reliable information that the cleric … had fled to an unknown
location in the Balkans," related the December 6, 2005 Washington Post.
This clumsy and implausible disinformation gambit was intended to throw the
Italian authorities off the trail of the CIA's snatch squad, but it didn't
work.
In July of last year, prosecutors and judges in Milan issued arrest warrants
- enforceable throughout the entire 25-nation European Union - for 22 CIA
operatives, including the head of the CIA's substation in Milan, all of whom
were charged with kidnapping and other crimes. The scandal arising from the
abduction helped undermine former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, head
of one of the few foreign governments that strongly supported the Bush
administration. It severely compromised the CIA's ability to operate in and
around Italy. And it wrecked outright an Italian counterterrorism effort into
what may be an active Islamic terrorist network in Europe.
The CIA is designed to conduct covert operations and collect intelligence.
But the conduct of the CIA's snatch squad was hardly covert, and the agency
displayed little intelligence in its incompetent efforts to cover up the mess it
had made in Milan.
Seeing in the Dark
Until the creation of the CIA through the 1947 National Intelligence Act, the
U.S. didn't have a permanent intelligence agency. The task of collecting
intelligence on foreign threats was carried out by portions of the State
Department and War Department (which in that year was reorganized as the
Department of Defense). With the emergence of the Soviet Union as a long-term
geo-strategic threat, the Truman administration insisted that it was necessary
to create a centralized department to gather, analyze, and collate intelligence;
thus the CIA was born.
At the time of its founding, the CIA was advertised as apolitical, devoted to
collecting the facts and providing them to policymakers; it was to be the very
essence of patriotic professionalism. As the Milan caper illustrates,
performance standards for field operatives have declined dramatically, which has
to have a negative impact on the agency's ability to gather reliable
intelligence. And that incident also illustrates how the CIA is increasingly
involved in illegal

[cia-drugs] Immigration & Integration

Immigration & Integrationby
Christopher S. BentleyJuly 24, 2006

Europe
got sucked into a "free trade" proposal that is morphing into a regional
government. The United States is being pushed through the same
process.
Open any international
business college textbook these days - granted, this isn't something that an
average person would do in his spare time for fun - and one will likely find
some discussion about a topic called "regional integration." Sounds innocuous,
doesn't it? That's how it is portrayed in the halls of modern academia -
intertwined with such labels as "free trade," "falling trade barriers," or
"lifting all the boats."
Well, we Americans are about to find out the hard way just what
this is all about - unless we change course. The Europeans got sucked into a
common market "free trade" proposal that morphed into an economic union and is
now morphing into a full-blown political union - a regional government. The
United States is being pushed through the same process. However, whereas the
European nations took 50 years to go through it, the internationalists in our
government intend to complete their plan much sooner - as in two
decades.
How does regional integration work? Picture, if you will, a
cross section of an onion, with its several layers. At the center is the core
that starts the process: a free trade area. My trusty textbook says that in "a
free trade area, all barriers to the trade of goods and services among member
countries are removed." That's how NAFTA was sold - and that's what Americans
who supported NAFTA thought they would get. What we really got was something
else.
The next phase is to create a customs union. My textbook
continues: "A customs union eliminates trade barriers between member countries
and adopts a common external trade policy." It is certainly not insignificant
that Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) member Robert Pastor pushed this idea
before Congress in 2005 in a proposal entitled "Building a North American
Community," wherein Mexico, Canada, and the United States would adopt a common
tariff. The scheme also calls for the integration of Mexican and Canadian
personnel "into the Department of Homeland Security," among other things. How
fun.
The third phase is a common market. A common market "allows
factors of production to move freely between members. Labor and capital are free
to move because there are not restrictions on immigration, emigration, or
cross-border flows of capital between member countries." This is exactly what is
behind the Bush administration's fanatical zeal to implement its "guest
worker"/amnesty program. By granting amnesty to the millions of illegals already
here, the floodgates would be swung wide open for many more illegals to cross
our borders.
A consequence of battering down our nation's borders by
permitting illegal immigration would conveniently lead us into the fourth phase,
which is economic union. This phase not only includes everything that a common
market does, but also "requires a common currency, harmonization of members' tax
rates, and a common monetary and fiscal policy. Such a high degree of
integration demands a coordinating bureaucracy and the sacrifice of significant
amounts of national sovereignty to that bureaucracy." Yep, you read that right.
We are getting some of the "coordinating bureaucracy" under NAFTA's Chapter 11
tribunals, which have begun overturning U.S. court decisions. The monetary
policy and harmonized tax rates are quietly being planned even as the spoils
plundered from U.S. taxpayers are ladled out to the rich and infamous in Mexico,
under the pretense of building up Mexico's infrastructure. This has started with
the North American Development Bank. A regional currency, like the euro, will be
pushed next.
The final phase is political union. We should ask ourselves:
what would be left of our Constitution at that point?
The CFR internationalists who are positioned in key spots of our
nation's political institutions are racing down the "free trade" highway toward
a North American Union - which they intend to complete by 2010. So near are they
to this goal, one of its chief architects could hardly contain himself. In his
2002 Memoirs, CFR kingpin David Rockefeller wrote: "Some [ideological
extremists] believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best
interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as
'internationalists' and of conspiring with others around the world to build a
more integrated global political and economic structure - one world, if you
will. If that's the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it."
We should not forget that even Karl Marx loved "the Free Trade
system" because of its "destructive" capacity to "break up old nationalities …
and [hasten] the Social Revolution."
For years, the John Birch Society, and its affiliate The New
American, have been warning about these so-called f

But journalists on the ground in Baghdad, the ones who aren't brain dead from U.S. propaganda, report otherwise. Reports James Hider of The London Times:http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3-2268585_1,00.htmlAs I hung up the phone, I wondered if I would ever see my friend Ali alive again. Ali, The Times translator for the past three years, lives in west Baghdad, an area that is now in meltdown as a bitter civil war rages between Sunni insurgents and Shia militias. It is, quite simply, out of control. I returned to Baghdad on Monday after a break of several months, during which I too was guilty of glazing over every time I read another story of Iraqi violence. But two nights on the telephone, listening to my lost and frightened Iraqi staff facing death at any moment, persuaded me that Baghdad is now verging on total collapse. The U.S. may be staying but Iraqis are getting out as fast as they can: Those that can are leaving the country. At Baghdad airport, throngs of Iraqis jostle for places on the flights out - testimony to the breakdown in Iraqi society. One woman said that she and her three children were fleeing Mansour, once the most stylish part of the capital. "Every day there is fighting and killing," she said as she boarded a plane for Damascus in Syria to sit out the horrors of Baghdad.A neurologist, who was heading to Jordan with his wife, said that he would seek work abroad and hoped that he would never have to return. "We were so happy on April 9, 2003 when the Americans came. But I´ve given up. Iraq isn´t ready for democracy," he said, sitting in a chair with a view of the airport runway.Fares al-Mufti, an official with the Iraqi Airways booking office, told The Times that the national carrier had had to lay on an extra flight a day, all fully booked. Flights to Damascus have gone up from three a week to eight to cope with the panicked exodus.Muhammad al-Ani, who runs fleets of Suburban cars to Jordan, said that the service to Amman was so oversubscribed that that prices had rocketed from $200 (£108) to $750 per trip in the past two weeks.Despite the huge risks of driving through the Sunni Triangle, the number of buses to Jordan has mushroomed from 2 a day to as many as 40 or 50.Abu Ahmed, a Sunni who was leaving Ghazaliya with his family and belongings, said that he was ready to pay the exorbitant prices being charged because his wife had received a death threat at the hospital in a Shia area where she worked."We can´t cope, we have to take the children out for a while," he said.In one of the few comprehensive surveys of how many Iraqis have fled their country since the US invasion, the US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants said last month that there were 644,500 refugees in Syria and Jordan in 2005 - about 2.5 per cent of Iraq´s population. In total, 889,000 Iraqis had moved abroad, creating "the biggest new flow of refugees in the world", according to Lavinia Limon, the committee´s president. And the exodus may only just be starting.© Copyright 2006 by Capitol Hill BlueAlamaine, IVeGrand Forks, ND, US of A~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~"All are lunatics, but he who can analyze his delusion is called a philosopher." - Ambrose Bierce (1842-1914)Don't ask about caste or riches but instead ask about conduct. Alone in Europe, their government has dared to condemn what the Israelis are doing to Gaza. It is collective punishment, they say. It violates the principle of proportionality. Israel has not taken the precautions required by international law to protect civilians. Inevitably, the bloggers are pouring out the usual irrelevancies about the role of Swiss banks during the Nazi period. But as the depository of the Geneva conventions, one of the key legal advances to emerge from the ravages of the 20th century, Switzerland has a duty to speak outIts statement stands in contrast to the European Union's shamefully muted voice. The Palestinians kill two soldiers and take one prisoner and, in response, power stations are blown up, sewage and water systems grind to a halt, bridges
are destroyed, sonic booms terrify children day and night, and all this is inflicted on a hungry people who are under siege in what is effectively a huge open prison. The EU's response? Vague expressions of "concern" and calls for "restraint".Is it World Cup madness? The rush for last-minute cheap summer holiday deals? Couldn't European leaders show a tenth of the courage of Israel's brilliant columnist, Gideon Levy? "It is not legitimate to cut off 750,000 people from electricity. It is not legitimate to call on 20,000 people to run from their homes and turn their towns into ghost towns. It is not legitimate to kidnap half a government and a quarter of a parliament. A state that takes such steps is no longer distinguishable from a terror organisation," he wrote this week in Haaretz. In a two hour appearance before MPs on Tuesday, all that Tony Blair could produce was a classic fence-sitter: "I have learned enough
about this situation over the years to realise that going in and condemning either side is not deeply helpful."European impotence in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is of course an ancient problem. The disease's latest aggravation began in January after Hamas's election victory. Here was an event which was bound to have huge repercussions in Israel, on every state's relations with the Palestinian authority, on the future of political Islam throughout the Arab world, as well as on the west's image among Muslims. In short, it was a moment where the time-honoured diplomatic technique - a pause for reflection - was vital. The device is often used to cover unnecessary delay. This time there was a genuine need to analyse and consult before rushing to conclusions. There was no urgency since Israel was already refusing to negotiate with President Mahmoud Abbas.Yet the EU promptly lined up with the US and Israel in
demanding Hamas change its policies or be punished. The Quartet, a relatively recent body set up to coordinate policies between the US, the EU, Russia and the UN, became a trap, acting as an arm of the US state department for keeping other states in line. The Quartet's demands on Hamas were identi

It all began on the evening of June 22, 2006, when "Hannity & Colmes" (on the FOX/RNC Channel) had a guest on by the name of Dr. James H. Fetzer.         Fetzer is a member of 9/11 Scholars for Truth. Due to some unexpected initial confusion on the part of the hosts regarding their chosen "attack theme" (they got their "facts FOXED," as Fetzer said), Fetzer was given a rare opportunity to answer an open-ended question --      almost without interruption. As the lawyers all say, "Never ask a witness any question to which you do not already know the answer."      Colmes asked Fetzer something to the effect, "So can you give us one piece of evidence that would tend to point toward 9/11 being an inside job by the Bush Administration?" While Ollie North (who was guest hosting for Hannity) was apparently still lost in confusion, Fetzer had a rare opportunity to speak a few full sentences without hostile, obnoxious interruptions. He said (and I'm paraphrasing here again), "I point you to Secretary of Transportation Norman      Minetta's testimony before the 9/11 Commission. Minetta said he had encountered Vice President Cheney in a bunker in Washington, DC, at 9:20 AM, on the day of the attacks [forty-three minutes earlier than Cheney said he had arrived]. Every few seconds a young man would come into the room and say, 'Sir, it's 50 miles out. Sir, it's 40 miles out. Sir, it's 30 miles out,' and so on. Finally the young man asked the Vice President, 'Sir, do the orders still stand?' Cheney replied gruffly, 'Of course, the orders still stand. Have you heard anything to the contrary?'         Fetzer went on to explain that only later did Minetta learn that the young man was referring to Flight 77 approaching Washington, DC, and the orders the young man was referring to were obviously orders NOT to shoot the plane down. That's why the young man had finally asked if the orders still stood, to which Cheney replied that they did. Shortly thereafter, Flight 77 (or a "reasonable" facsimile thereof) struck the Pentagon. Obviously, the producers of the "Hannity & Colmes Propaganda Hour" had not anticipated such a damning bit of irrefutable evidence to escape over "their" airwaves to their glassy-eyed, drool-chinned audience.      Here's the Real Kicker... The very next morning, less than twelve hours after his 9/11 testimony had been unexpectedly "exposed" to the FOX faithful, Norman Minetta resigned as Secretary of Transportation.         What an unbelievably amazing coincidence of timing! Just for the sake of argument, let's say Minetta's timing was truly nothing more than a coincidence. If so, then he couldn't have picked a worse time to announce it (unless it was his relatively subtle way of sending a message to the masses). Or, if he was forced to resign by Bush/Cheney (for whatever reason), they couldn't have picked a more self-incriminating time to make it happen.      There has been barely a peep about Minetta's resignation in the mainstream media. I saw the same, generic, non-informational, totally uncurious five-second clip about it several times, but there has been absolutely no speculation as to why he did it      (although his recent back surgery is implied to be the main reason).      That's incredibly unusual behavior for our babbling heads, isn't it? Other high-level resignations in the last few months from the Bush Administration were the subject of endless babble among the MSM "elite."         A Final Thought I can only imagine the sudden conflicting thoughts of at least five out of every one hundred Fox viewers who had heard Fetzer mention Minetta's damning testimony just a few hours before Minetta resigned. What must they have been thinking for a short time before their self-hypnosis kicked back in?      James H. July 13, 2006 -- According to State Department sources, a meeting of
top U.S. Defense Department psychological operations (PSYOPs) officials had been
taking place at the Georgetown home in front of which British neo-conservative
activist Alan Senitt was brutally murdered early in the morning of July 9.
Senitt and a female companion were reportedly retrieving something from the
trunk of their car when they were attacked. Four assailants, all residents of
Washington, DC, were arrested in connection with the Senitt murder. Senitt's
throat was slit in the incident. The home where the PSYOPs meeting took place
was located near the corner of Q Street and 31st Street in an otherwise quiet
neighborhood in the wealthy Georgetown area of Washington.

Senitt's death reportedly occurred in front of Georgetown
home where Pentagon PSYOPs meeting had been taking
place.
