[cia-drugs] Yes, You Are the Person of the Year! : FRANK RICH - Fleeing Reality +
RICH: This was the year Americans escaped as often as they could into their private pleasure pods. THE COMPLETE ARTICLE WITH ALL HYPERLINKS AND MORE OP-ED COLUMNIST Yes, You Are the Person of the Year! By FRANK RICH Published: December 24, 2006 TIMES choice for 2006 Person of the Year You was a bountiful gift of mirth to America, second only to the championship Donald Trump-Rosie ODonnell bout as a comic kickoff to the holiday season. The magazines cover stunt, a computer screen of Mylar reflecting the readers own image, was so hokey that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert merely had to display it on camera to score laughs. The magazines disingenuous rationale for bestowing its yearly honor on its readers was like a big wet kiss from a distant relative who creeps you out. According to Time, You deserve to be Person of the Year because you yes, you, as the cover puts it control the Information Age and spend a lot of time watching YouTube and blogging instead of, well, reading dead-tree media like Time. The pronouncements ginned up to inflate this theme include the observation that Thomas Paine was in effect the first blogger (which presumably makes the Old Testament in effect the first Facebook). The desperation of Time to appear relevant and hip fantastically cutting-edge and New Media, as Nora Ephron put it in a hilarious essay for The Huffington Post was embarrassing in its nakedness. And sad. --MORE-- http://mparent.blogspot.com/2006/12/yes-you-are-person-of-year-frank-rich.html Labels: Big Media, culture wars, FRANK RICH, Iraq, Iraq War, LITVENKO, Media, News, Politics, RICH, Rumsfeld, The New York Times U.S. says U.N. Re: [cia-drugs] Re: Fwd: Ted Gunderson: A Treatise of Lies
One obvious lie was that Gunderson married LaVey's former wife. The website [http://www.stewwebb.com/Ted%20Gunderson.html] says her name was Rachel, whereas Anton LaVey was married twice, once to Carole and once to Diane [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0491990/], with a third companion named Blanche. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0491989/bio Biography for Anton LaVey Birth name Howard Stanton Levee Anton Szandor LaVey was born April 11, 1930 to Joseph and Augusta LaVey. His father was a liquor salesman. They soon moved to the San Francisco, California area. The name LaVey came from an immigrant ancestor who in passing through Ellis Island was given the name of his place of origin, Levey, France. Known as Tony, he showed early musical talent, and received musical training. He was always an outsider. He left home after an incident where another youth knifed his face and Tony fought back. He joined circuses and carnivals, learned carny jobs and to play the calliope. He knew Clyde Beatty and Tim McCoy. He played organ for burlesque, and had a short affair with Marilyn Monroe. He left Los Angeles and returned to San Francisco where he continued as an organist and became a police photographer. He married Carole and started his Magic Circle meetings. He later left Carole for even more beautiful Diane. There is a tape circulating of an episode of the local TV program The Wonderful World of Brother Buzz, narrated by Pat MacCormick, which centers on LaVey's lion Togare, but also shows the life of his wonderful normal family with wife Diane, and daughters Karla (by first wife Carole) and Zeena, as well as many animals, who lived in the soon to be famous Black House. At that time Anton was a psychic investigator. He and Diane founded the Church of Satan as a partnership in 1966. It was the world's first openly acknowledged Satanic Church. Anton was spokesman and still remains the very image of Satan and Satanism. High Priestess Diane LaVey was equally Satanic but performed the role of good wife and church administrator. Soon followed the first public Satanic wedding, then a first baptism (for their daughter Zeena) and first Satanic funeral. This period of public rituals, about 1967-70, generated intense worldwide publicity and growth in membership. The movie Satanis (1970) allowed Anton to espouse many of his views, and shows the church at that time. The LaVey's associated with many famous and accomplished people, particularly actors, writers and circus people. Among them were Jayne Mansfield, Sammy Davis Jr., Kenneth Anger, Forrest J Ackerman, Joseph Cotten, Barbara McNair, Elke Sommer, Keenan Wynn, and directors Milo O. Frank Jr. and Robert Fuest. Anton authored several well-known books on Satanism and witchcraft. Most of what he's told about himself is true as he saw it through his own biases, although he did not tell all. It was NOT a self-created legend as charged by critics. As with many '60s celebrities who were private people there was a burnout factor. Press distortion, harassment from many quarters, including gunshots, vandalism and pestering fans caused him to withdraw from most public activities in his last 20 years. Speak of the Devil (1995) (V) once again gave him a chance to express his views on film. He had a son Xerxes with his _last companion and successor to the church leadership, Blanche Barton_. He was able to spend some time with his grandson, Zeena's son Stanton LaVey. Many fascinating details of his life are still unknown to the public, and some points have been argued back and forth by those who do not know. There is much to be learned about his activities with Jayne Mansfield and Sammy Davis Jr., and the _making of The Devil's Rain (1975) with Director Fuest and William Shatner, John Travolta, Tom Skerritt, Ernest Borgnine and others_. [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072869/] He was a kindly man, who was particularly protective of animals and children, but as a human also had a dark side. Being physically strong he almost killed once or twice with his bare hands. He was philosophically an outlaw and heretic. His influence remains great. He was a multi-talented, elitist, private person. He held on to much from the past, yet was also ahead of his time, a forerunner of among other things heavy-metal, Satanic rock, vampire and goth cultures. norgesen wrote: That was written by the infamous Stew Webb, himself often accused (with good reason) of being disinfo. Begin forwarded message: From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: December 23, 2006 7:08:14 PM PST To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Bush-Buddy Silvio Berlusconi Pulled a Florida but Lost Anyway Prodi's problems By LISA PALMIERI-BILLIG Jerusalem Post, December 13, 2006 http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite? cid=1164881879697pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull ROME The Prodi government, which squeaked by then-prime minister Silvio Berlusconi's right wing coalition in April's election, has more to worry about than the Mideast; it faces a broad array of domestic unrest. Enrico Deaglio, editor-in-chief of the magazine Diario, recently released a video accusing the Right of manipulating a computer system to falsify the election results. The Prodi alliance won by 24,000 votes over Berlusconi's House of Liberty. The Center-Left majority now has 158 seats in the Senate while the opposition has 156. There is also one independent senator. The Deaglio expose has led Parliament to call for a recount of 1,093,277 allegedly invalid votes. Berlusconi, for his part, is calling for a recount of all ballots, including those cast by Italians living abroad, where the procedures were sometimes shaky, in the hope that evidence will be found to support his post-election statement that he was the real victor. There is also widespread dissatisfaction with Prodi's new tax laws, which cut benefits for many categories of employee. And then there is the Italian connection to the murder by radiation poisoning of Russian ex-KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko. Mario Scaramella, the enigmatic Italian who met with Litvinenko in London on the day of his poisoning (Scaramella was slightly contaminated) had served on the 2002 Mitrokhin Commission, which examined the Italian section of 300,000 files delivered to the UK by former KGB archivist Vasilif Mitrokhin. The commission never issued a final report and the files were never made public. Thirty-four distinguished historians have appealed for access to the files. In every democratic system free research by scholars and intellectuals is a necessary counterbalance to make sure that the use of documents in ascertaining the truth regarding the past of the nation does not depend exclusively on the outcome of political competition, they wrote to legislative leaders. They said that while Nazis and fascists have been tried starting two generations ago, the identities and crimes of Communist collaborators in Italy have not been addressed. Italy is also struggling with issues of Church and State. Laws regarding euthanasia, legal rights for unmarried straight and same- sex couples, as well as illegal immigration and integrating new arrivals, generate daily debates that cut across party lines and are partially responsible for the inability of coalition and opposition parties to agree on principles that would allow them to form, respectively, a Democratic Party that could join the European Socialist block, and a Moderate-Center party.

WRIGHT Washington Post AUSTIN — As if three decades working in naval intelligence, running the National Security Agency and serving as deputy director of the CIA were not enough, retired Adm. Bobby Ray Inman decided he wanted a second career. I found I have a fairly low threshold of boredom, Inman, 75, said in his downtown office. Inman left Washington in 1982 to try my hand at business, he said. I wanted to see if the things that worked in running large organizations in the public sector ... were transferable. Two decades later, Inman is a successful venture capitalist. He has a corner office at Gefinor Ventures, where he is managing director, that looks north toward the University of Texas. There, Inman has another office and, in effect, a third career. In 2001, after teaching pro bono for several years, Inman became a tenured professor at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, where he teaches international relations. No matter the job title, his work has always been tied to monitoring politics and events around the world. Analyzing political risk was the contribution I brought to companies, Inman said. It is a contribution he has made in more than a few boardrooms. Inman said he has invested in 43 early-stage companies. He currently oversees four, in different parts of the country, as part of his duties at Gefinor. He originally landed in Austin about a year after leaving the CIA, as head of a consortium of 12 leading computer companies in the country's first large-scale joint research project. He quit the post in 1986 but stayed in the city, taking over a holding company for defense industry acquisitions. That, in 1998, led to his co-founding Gefinor. Today he sits on several boards, including the Greater Austin Crime Commission. It might sound like a far cry from dealing with a seemingly monolithic intelligence agency, but Inman said he is used to managing many projects. I was involved in so many different things when I was running NSA, he said, such as overseeing research labs, procurement budgets, international crises, and dealing with Congress and the White House. These days Inman keeps only one connection to the federal government, a seat on the board at CNA Corp. (formerly known as the Center for Naval Analyses), the Navy's think tank. For a while, it seemed, Washington would come calling every few years. After the bombing of the U.S. Embassy annex in Beirut, Inman led an advisory panel that in 1985 suggested ways to make embassies more secure. Eight years later, President Clinton nominated him to replace Les Aspin as defense secretary. But Inman asked to be withdrawn from consideration, citing rush-to-judgment distortions of my record, my character and my reputation. He has rarely been called upon since. This year he made news as one of the highest-profile former intelligence officials to criticize President Bush's warrantless domestic wiretaps. Inman is still gathering intelligence for his various jobs, but now he does it like every other citizen: through the media and the Internet. I am less knowledgeable, but I can still pretty broadly track what's going on, he said. And I don't have to worry when I get into conversation that I'm going to accidentally reveal something that could be damaging to sources. -__ ___ _ ___ __ ___ _ _ _ __ /-_|-0-\-V-/-\|-|-__|-|-|-/-_| \_-\--_/\-/|-\\-|-_||-V-V-\_-\ |__/_|--//-|_|\_|___|\_A_/|__/ SPY NEWS is OSINT newsletter and discussion list associated to Mario's Cyberspace Station - The Global Intelligence News Portal http://mprofaca.cro.net Since you are receiving and reading documents, news stories, comments and opinions not only from so called (or self-proclaimed) reliable sources, but also a lot of possible misinformation collected by Spy News moderator and subscribers and posted to Spy News for OSINT purposes - it should be a serious reason (particularly to journalists and web publishers) to think twice before using it for their story writing, further publishing or forwarding throughout Cyberspace. [cia-drugs] we saw the voting in Venezuela good article!
Eyewitness Venezuela: We saw it all Author: John Rummel People's Weekly World Newspaper, 12/07/06 12:09 http://www.pww.org/article/articleview/10239/1/350/ Sure I voted! Here's my purple finger! Getting a finger dyed purple is one way that election authorities fight any possibility of fraud. On election day, Venezuelans take pride in their purple fingers! PWW photo by Jim Lane. CARACAS, Venezuela When Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez trounced his U.S.-backed opponent to win a second six-year term on Dec. 3, we were there. The alarm went off at 2:45 a.m. It was election day, and it was time to head to the polls. We were 16 labor and peace activists from the United States, including a six-member delegation from the Communist Party USA, who were among the hundreds of official and unofficial international observers of Venezuela's presidential election. Tim Yeager from Illinois and I had volunteered for the early shift. We arrived at the voting station at 3 a.m. with Roraima Segura, a young mother of two who was assisting our delegation. She had wanted to ensure sheâd be near the front when the polls opened at 7, and she was but several hundred people were already in front of her. Some had begun their wait at 9 p.m. the previous evening, 11 hours before the polls opened. By the time we left at 5 a.m., well over a thousand people were already in line. Why did they arrive so early? Alirio Jose Perez, directly in front of Segura, said it was because under Chavez a democratization of Venezuelan life, along with mass education and health campaigns, has given people a stake in their country. As we talked, a flatbed truck full of youthful members of the Communist Party of Venezuela, with their party flags flying, drove by. Their calls for the election of Chavez were met with spontaneous cheers from the crowd. The Communist Party had its own line on the ballot with Chavez as its presidential candidate. We later learned that in Caracas the CPV was the third largest vote-getter, and in the nation it was fourth. Chavez's name appeared on the ballot of at least 23 parties. The polling station where we were, near the Bellas Artes Metro station, is one of the largest polling places in the city. Altogether, it was expected that over 12,000 people would vote there. We are at a special point in the history of Venezuela, said Daniel Leonard, a bank worker who was about 100th in line. This election will change the history of Venezuela and all of Latin America. The missions [social service agencies initiated by the Bolivarian government that work to meet people's needs such as education and health care] benefit all of the people and they have changed people's thinking, Leonard said. He added, The oil wealth of the country is now being used for the people. Leonard predicted a big margin of victory for Chavez. He observed that people think the good intentions of Simon Bolivar in Venezuela and George Washington in the U.S. were lost by presidents who came after them, and that in Venezuela they are returning to Bolivar's concept of putting the interests of the poor before the rich oligarchy. As we neared the front of the line, we met Daniel Televera Montero, a restaurant worker, who had arrived shortly after 9 p.m. the night before. Televera comes from Zulia, the state where Manuel Rosales, Chavez's opponent, had been governor until he stepped down to run for president. Although his parents still live in Zulia, Televera said his entire family is voting for Chavez. At the front of the line and showing great enthusiasm though they had already been standing for many hours were a group of young women. As we talked, a large convoy of cars and pick-up trucks went by with people clapping and singing for Chavez. The voters responded with their own set of cheers. The people today are very happy, said Fina Garcia, who works in the office of Caracas Mayor Freddy Bernal. She told us she had participated in many peace demonstrations against the Iraq war in Caracas. I did not give birth to a son so he can die in war, (hey's, that's our Quaker reason for having invented Mohter's day! -ed) she said. Garcia said the Venezuelan people love the people of the U.S. and understand that a majority opposes the policies of President Bush. Our delegation spent the day studying the mechanics of democracy in Venezuela. We familiarized ourselves with every point of their electoral process. As evening came, the polls closed one by one as the lined-up voters completed their task. We rejoined Roraima Segura and her family as they settled around the television to watch the results. As soon as the election commission announced Chavez's landslide victory, 61 percent to 38 percent, the day's general merriment reached an ecstatic climax. From Segura's window, we watched fireworks going off all over town and listened to the horns honking and the whistles of celebrants on the rainy streets below. [cia-drugs] Iran War for Dollar Hegemony
http://miami.indymedia.org/news/2006/06/4924_comment.php Iran War for Dollar Hegemony by Jurgen Wagner Tuesday, Jun. 27, 2006 at 9:18 AM [EMAIL PROTECTED] The run on the US currency has already begun. Preventing the IOB may help explain the extreme aggressiveness of the US toward Iran. Mending our own pockets and recalibrating energy and security policies are more sensible than the Bush doctrine, invading and colonizing countries for US politico-economic interests. IRAN WAR FOR DOLLAR HEGEMONY By Jurgen Wagner [This article published in: Friedensjournal Nr 3, May 2006 is translated from the German on the World Wide Web, http://www.uni-kassel.de/fb5/frieden/regionen/fran/dollar.html. Jurgen Wagner is director of the Tubingen Information on Militarization Institute (IMO).] The aggressiveness of US war policy has triggered discussions within the left about the driving forces of this offensiveness. In this context, the thesis is often defended in view of the obvious war preparations against Iran that the war against terror is essentially nothing but a crusade to maintain the dollar hegemony. The mass medias try to either ignore or make fun of this theme (e.g. Spiegel, 3/10/2006). What is involved is merely an implausible legend of conspiracy theoreticians. While mono-causal explanations should be avoided, there are good reasons for giving more attention to this legend. THE TRIBUTE SYSTEM OF THE US EMPIRE Two members of George W. Bush's party, his former Secretary of the Treasury Paul O'Neill and Representative Ron Paul, are chief witnesses for the connection of monetary- and war policy. In an interview, O'Neill gave revealing insights into the mentality of the Bush administration. When he spoke out internally against more tax cuts since they would further enlarge the gigantic US deficit, he was reprimanded by Vice-president Dick Cheney as follows: You know Paul, Reagan proved deficits aren't important. The significance of this sentence cannot be overrated. Common sense says that whoever imports (consumes) more goods than he exports (produces) engenders a balance of trade deficit that cannot be endlessly financed through indebtedness since the creditors will refuse some time or other. In fact, this happened at the beginning of the 1970s when expenses for the Vietnam War led to a rapidly inflated indebtedness of the United States. As a result, Washington could not maintain exchanging the dollar for gold at a fixed exchange rate ($35 per ounce) guaranteed up to this time. Since then, the dollar has been nothing but a piece of paper, a currency without any backing. Only two options existed at that time. If a radical revitalization and drastic military disarmament were refused, a possibility had to be found for becoming endlessly indebted so states would need to buy dollar reserves or US treasury notes. Henry Kissinger, the architect of the modern American tribute system, found the following solution. In exchange for the security of US rule - and with massive aggressive threats - Kissinger induced the Saudi royal house to calculate its oil in dollars. The other Opec states joined so the two central trading centers for oil and gas, the International Petroleum Exchange (IPE) in London and the New York NYMEX are both based on the dollar. This mechanism leads to a gigantic demand for dollars and supports the role of the greenback as the leading world currency. Everyone accepts dollars to buy oil. (Asia Times, 4/11/2002). As long as dollars are demanded, the US can become indebted almost at will without having to declare bankruptcy. Any other state with comparable statistics would be forced to declare bankruptcy. In a speech before the House of Representatives (2/15/2006), the republican representative Ron Paul clearly described the functioning of the US tribute system: Our whole economic system depends on the present recycling system. We borrow $700 billion annually from our generous benefactors who work hard and accept our dollar bills for their products. We borrow all the money we need for the security of the empire (defense budget $450 billion) and more. The military power that we enjoy becomes the support of our currency. Maintaining the dollar-oil relation and securing it as the dominant currency is most important. Any attack on this relation will be powerfully defeated - as has always happened. Does the currency question play a role regarding the offensive plans against Iran? IS THE IRANIAN OIL BOURSE THE END OF PETRODOLLAR IMPERIALISM? For the first time, a serious alternative to the dollar exists in the euro. The run on the US currency has already begun. More and more countries - particularly Russia and China - systematically rearrange their currency reserves. The falling demand for dollars is a logical consequence. Some recent headlines show the greenback has lost considerable value and is under massive pressure: The Asian
[cia-drugs] Putin to remain leader after leaving Kremlin: senior politician
http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/12/23/061223184743.z6vos816.html Putin to remain leader after leaving Kremlin: senior politician President Vladimir Putin will retain a leadership role in Russia even if he steps down in 2008, as required by the constitution, a senior politician has said. He will not leave, Sergei Stepashin, head of Russia's accounting chamber, was quoted as saying in the Komsomolskaya Pravda daily Saturday. I think he will find the kind of formula in which he would step down, but stay on. Stepashin, a former prime minister, secret services chief and KGB veteran, suggested that Putin's post-Kremlin future could be modelled loosely on that of Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping, who in the 1990s was widely considered to retain backroom power despite his retirement. Asked what sort of options Putin might consider, Stepashin answered: Lots. Party leader, head of parliament, government, a new state council. Putin has repeatedly vowed to respect the constitution and leave office at the end of his second four-year term in 2008. However, he has also said that he hopes to retain influence. According to Stepashin, Putin's departure would be a blow. He is right and not right. There is a dilemma. From the political view, he should stay. Not only because the work is all going well. Any new leader brings a new team. At a minimum, this causes a break in momentum. Putin, another KGB veteran whom critics accuse of rolling back democracy and crushing independent media, became president in 2000. Polls show that he is hugely popular in Russia. attachment: SGE.DBC79.231206184341.photo00.quicklook.default-165x245.jpg
[cia-drugs] [IN REVIEW] Dec.'06, Apathy Ignorance. (update)
Howdy, This is an update to the recent mailing. Please, note the additions. You heard about the old boy that was asked about the apathy and ignorance of most folks. He said, I don't know and I don't care. Then there is the mature man that was told what a wonderful farm the good Lord had given him with orchards, gardens, deep well and rock house. Shaking his head, he replied, You should have seen the place when the Lord had it to himself. Most believe we have the right to our opinions, I would argue that it is more important that our opinions be right. . MY CHRISTMAS GREETING Please allow me to join your family and friends in wishing you a very blessed and Merry Christmas. Along with many others, I am praying that God will continue to shower His protection and provision upon our land. As a nation, we have drifted very far from the principles upon which our country was founded. I doubt that Washington and Jefferson would even recognize what their posterity has done to what was once a constitutional republic. I am old enough to say that I don't even recognize my country anymore. We don't deserve God's protective hand, that is for sure. However, as God would have spared Sodom for the sake of ten righteous souls, I am praying that there are yet enough truly righteous men and women in these United States that God will be pleased to spare us. http://www.uruknet.de/?p=m29267 Gates visited Baghdad to quell US soldiers mutiny in Anbar, US imminent attack on Ramadi soon December 24, 2006 According almoharrer newspaper quoting an Iraqi Military sources Iraqi military sources told the newspaper that the reason that the American Secretary of Defense Robert Gates visited Baghdad urgently after two days he received his new post as a Defense Minister; is to extinguish a military mutiny carried out by American VI battalion based in Anbar, after refusing to obey orders and prefer not to leave their base in Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province. The sources pointed out that the US military base is exposed to daily heavy tactical attacks and attempts to storm the walls of the base by Iraqi resistance. The sources added that Washington and specifically Military, and intelligence in the American Congress, designedly sending Gates to rectify the mistakes that were made by his predecessor Ramsifeld and the most serious is; the American soldiers surrendering to the Iraqi resistance in Ramadi, which is what happened a month and a half before, while Iraqi resistance clashed with American patrol and managed to burn their military vehicle, US soldiers had no choice but surrender and hope for safety. With a help of an interpreter, the American POW explained they do not wish to fight the Iraqis and asked their captors to help them to smuggle them to Turkey across Mosul, Syria-Iraq borders in order to request political asylum. Also reported by Qudspress that a mass exodus take place right now in the city of Ramadi after reports of an imminent American attack on the city following the visit of the American Secretary of Defense Robert Gates to Iraq. The city filled with people searching for taxis and trucks to flee the city, bringing with them some simple belongings, especially after the American forces announced to the residents of Al Althelh and Al-Mulameen, the need to leave and evacuate their homes. US forces took control of many houses in the area by force. It also closed schools in the city after electricity was lost completely. American forces also cut off water from the city center, with the continued armed confrontations between the American forces and Iraqi resistance in the city.

Just because it is a blog, its not kosher to publish infantile slander. or SKIP THIS futile exercise and read some excellent BOYLE WRITINGS: The following is the first post of a new JPost.com blog featuring leading American attorney and stalwart defender of Israel Alan Dershowitz By this time, everyone knows that Jews for Jesus are not really Jews. They are Christians using the cover of their Jewish origin to fool people into coming to their proselytizing services. But many people still think that the seven bearded enemies of Israel - members of an extreme cult called Neturei Karta - who accepted an invitation from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to come to Iran's Holocaust denial festival, are also real Jews. Still others believe that supporters of Hizbullah and Holocaust minimizers like Norman Finkelstein - who uses his Jewish birth to cover for his anti-Semitism - are real Jews. Nothing could be further from the truth, and I now propose a new vocabulary for describing these imposters. From now on, the Neturei Karta should be known as Jews for Ahmadinejad, and Norman Finkelstein and his ilk should be known now as Jews for Hizbullah. The Neturei Karta describe themselves as part of the Orthodox Jews United Against Zionism. In reality, they are a tiny sect that is unwilling to recognize Israel's right to exist as a secular state. According to the Neturei Karta, Jews may not reoccupy Jerusalem until the Messiah arrives and God explicitly allows the establishment of a Jewish nation grounded in halacha, or Jewish religious law. The Neturei Karta are so incensed by a secular Israel that their principal mission is to align themselves with people and organizations such as Yasser Arafat, Hizbullah, and Ahmadinejad in order to do whatever they can to help eliminate Israel. They number no more than a few thousand people. Noam Chomsky probably deserves a category all his own. In light of his having written an introduction to a book by Holocaust denier Robert Faurisson - who also spoke at the Iranian hate-fest - Chomsky should now be known as a Jew for Holocaust Deniers. Chomsky has claimed that he was only defending Faurisson's freedom of speech, but that defense rings hollow. In the first place, Chomsky is not remotely a civil libertarian. Civil libertarians defend everyone's freedom of speech and conscience, whether they agree with the content of that speech or not. Chomsky, on the other hand, defends only those with whom he agrees. Second, Chomsky did, in fact, defend the substance of Faurisson's Holocaust denial. He called Faurisson as a sort of relatively apolitical liberal, praised his extensive historical research, and characterized his assertions about the Holocaust as historical findings. He also said that he did not see any hint of anti-Semitic implications in Faurisson's claim that the so-called Holocaust was a fraud perpetrated by the Jewish people. Finkelstein's wholehearted hatred of Jews and support for Hizbullah is well documented and easily accessible. He is a denouncer of all Holocaust victims -calling survivors frauds and hucksters - while appropriating Nazi language himself when he characterizes American Jews as parasites. He wears his vileness on his sleeve. For a quick overview of his positions, please see a chapter of my book The Case for Peace. Just like consumers of food and tobacco products must be warned by labels, so too, consumers of propaganda should be warned by appropriate labeling. And just as a person can renounce his citizenship by deed or word, so too can a person renounce his ethnicity in the same manner. I hope my labeling of anti-Semites of Jewish heritage will put to rest any misconceptions that
