[CinCVS] Compositor stretching 16:9
Got a weird issue, the compositor is stretching a video to 4:3 when it displays it even thou it is 16:9. Opens 16:9 in Kino just fine .. Any suggestions? -- replicant ___ Cinelerra mailing list Cinelerra@skolelinux.no https://init.linpro.no/mailman/skolelinux.no/listinfo/cinelerra
Re: [CinCVS] [WANTED] English native speakers to proof read the manual
Thanks for dividing the work! Here is my part, which read quite well since it had large portions from Heroine's plugin-contributing docs. I'm curious how the docs are published - are any parts governed by a wiki? Parts of mine included troubleshooting, shortcuts, and guides for cinelerra, and allowing users to contribute their secrets would be helpful as well. Joe part_4.diff Description: Binary data

Should I keep rendering 640x480 images (4:3 aspect ratio) images with square pixels and let cinelerra work from it? Should I render 720x576 images with non square pixels? I'll assume that you create you images with square pixels. I can also generate images with non square pixel (povray knows how to do this). Maybe its easier because I wont have to rescale. Hence, if you need absolutely correct aspect ratio, you better scale the 768x576 images to 704x576, and then add a black border of 8 pixels to the left and right to get the 720x576. But I doubt that you will notice a difference on a TV. Well, maybe it doest worth it, right. As I'm far from the final rendering, I'll let that question on hold for now, but I didnt thought that was that much complex! Thanks for your answer. Then the simplest approach that gets you closest to the expected result is to create 768x576 images and scale them to 720x576. (Cinelerra can do this for you, but I didn't find a straight-forward way to do it, so you may want to automate this outside Cinelerra). But this is just half the truth. Because a PAL frame's area that is to be mapped onto a 4:3 screen is actually taken from a 704x576 sub-area of the available 720x576. Hence, if you need absolutely correct aspect ratio, you better scale the 768x576 images to 704x576, and then add a black border of 8 pixels to the left and right to get the 720x576. [CinCVS] race condition / bug 210
I'm working on my first project (a video of a theater performance) with Cinelerra. I have been impressed with the features of Cinelerra, but it keeps locking up when I try to do simple editing operations. Sometimes splicing in a short clip causes Cinelerra to consume the CPU for 15 minutes, sometimes longer. Other times the operation completes in a second or so. Sometimes the splice never completes (or at least takes so long that I have so far not had the patience to wait it out). Sometimes the lockup also happens while moving clips on the timeline by dragging and dropping, or selecting/deselecting the 'draw track' option. It looks to me like the symptoms of bug 210. Has there been any progress on this? The lockup occur on almost every edit operation, so the bug makes Cinelerra effectively useless for me. Should I try to check out the current SVN version? I'm using cinelerra-2.1-0.10.20061024.fc5 from FreshRPMs on Fedora Core 5 (glibc 2.4-11, Linux 2.6.17-1.2157_FC5smp). The machine is a 3.6 GHz Pentium 4 box with hyperthreading enabled (smp kernel). The video material is over 2 hours of dv2 format video from a miniDV camera, captured with Kino.
