[CinCVS] GVFX - Gnu video FX

2007-12-31 Thread marquitux caballero

Also note that the GNU name is only used by and for software projects
that are official part of the GNU project:

thanks florian, but I´m no coder just aniamtor an my work is CC with the
less amount of restioctions possible, when the script be released WITH the
transition pack, we will go GNU-CC kind of licence... but for now, to have
GNU in the Gvfx name says more about the spirit of the project than a
license kind (but gvfx sound cooler than CCvfx or Ovfx... but we expect to
become GNU at some point, for now, JUST USE IT... when we licence it, KEEP
USING IT that´s all :)

...But other than that, it's a great project! Hope to see more editors
integrating it.

we hope too, I work with adobe apps and canopus apps and I see INTEGRATION,
adn the GNU apps in linux can become BETTER, and FASTER, and free the
artists, not thinking in term of market but in FEATURES, and CROSS
COMPATIBILITY. I was a HollywoodFX user in the past, and as many other user
we alway thougth about : how cool woul be to create those transitions in
max, but that wasn´t possible because THOSE COMPANIES NEVER HAD A CONTRACT
OR AGREENMENT to make such a feature... that stuff always limited the users
but now as a linux user, I SEE THE DAY THAT HAVING 3D TRANSITIONS and
blender3D FULL CONTROL OVER THE SCENE happening soon, and we will not stop
there, we can make DVDmenues from the timeline with almost the same system
(just a few changes to the script) so the NLE could have DVD labels or
somekind of markers and generate the DVDAUTHOR.xml file with animated butons
and ready to burn the DVD.
other FX possible  could be:
http://gvfx.blogspot.com/2007/12/punch-in-face-golpe-en-la-cara.html

because cinelerra can TRACK points... if you could write that data to a CSV
file, we could punch faces or throw 3D arrows, or put 3D flowers in people´s
heads, using another script, but that´s just sci-fi for now, we will
concentrate now in the transitions which is the base of the whole system.

Gilbert,
Quick reply: don't do ATI if you want to use OpenGL. NVidia cards have
a full OpenGL implementation that Cinelerra can use.

What are you editing? DV or HDV?

I think it's just not an explicit menu.

I'm really in doubt that cinelerra has such a hidden menu,
because if you look at the session xml, the information stored for
each source media is as follows:

Media

HEADER="0" DITHER="0"

   ACODEC="twos" AUDIO_LENGTH="172376064">
VCODEC="yuv2" VIDEO_LENGTH="89788"
   INTERLACE_AUTOFIX="1" INTERLACE_MODE="UNKNOWN"
INTERLACE_FIXMETHOD="DO_NOTHING"
   REEL_NAME="cin" REEL_NUMBER="0" TCSTART="0" TCEND="0"
TCFORMAT="0">

btw: you can edit the reel name and number, the timecode and the fps by
choosing "info..." from the context menu of the clip in the media
window...

 There is a lot more metadata to be known about a resource,
or "essence". Have a look at Media Exchange Format (MXF)
that are used by some video cameras already.

You were right Johannes, thank you for test it. With this one that problem
should be fixed. Although I haven't tried it with DV in QT container, I've
reproduced it with other formats.

In any case I have noticed another issue. When the first clip has less audio
channels than the second one, the second audio channel of the second clip is
positioned at the beginning of the second audio track, which is not the desired
behavior (always at least)

|V clip1|V clip2|
|A clip1|A clip2|
|A clip2|
