Hi, I'm a developer, so I can only tell you what is "THEORETICALLY" possible in my opinion. ;-) I've been experimenting with using OpenGL to accellerate HDV Playback, and using the ATI Hardware in my Laptop with the fglrx driver I did have some problems getting the last bit of performance out of it, either the fglrx driver is buggy, or my Hardware has to little Video-Ram, or both. ;-) Other than that, as far as I know, cinelerra only utilizes OpenGL for Playback, but not for Rendering, so investing in GL Hardware will not shorten your render times. And before going for a "Workstation" Product, I'd rather give a "Consumer" Version a Try, they are not to shabby either, and much cheaper. Other than that, I have no Idea about how different cards compare from a performance point of view. Be aware though that you will mostly use the "Fragment Shaders" of the GL card for Video, and not much of the other features. Benchmarks would be nice though. [CinCV] Is HDV editing possible on a laptop?
I'll turn that classical HDV question to; "Is HDV editing with Cinelerra possible on todays powerful laptops"? While I will expect an overall as fast as possible laptop is required and that 1920x1200 resolution capable GPU and TFT display are preferable, I also wonder: Will a highend graphical card have much effect on the HDV editing speed and comfort? And to what degree and for which operations does Cinelerra utilize OpenGL and HW accelerated grapichs, (i.e effects, transitions?), so that i.e a highend Nvidia Quadro FX card may be a reasonable investment? [CinCV] Transparency gone wild!
Hello again! It seams I'm bumping into more problems with my current project then with all other before :) Please take a look at this picture: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v287/leandroribeiro/lumiera/menu_sample_03.png A is "video 1" and B is "video 2". They are, at that moment in the timeline, both visible, but as you can see in C, the fader in video 1 is at Zero! This only happens with colorspaces with Alpha channel. Any idea why? :( I need an alpha channel in this one, since I'm using PNG's to add titles to the songs. Re: [CinCV] More logos for Lumiera
Great job. My preference is number 4. But maybe with the L underneath, like in number 3. But keeping the font thin, like in 4. I have the impression the red circle is a bit too big. It attracts the eye too much, in my feeling. Regards, Steven. Leandro Ribeiro wrote: Hi there! I don't know how to code or enough video editing to help with the stuff that really matters in Lumiera :) ...but I'll go with the new flow and try to contribute in my own way. So... here are some logotypes I worked on this weekend. My hope is not that the logo comes from this set, but that this set inpires new, different and better sets. The idea is to brainstorm, as Odin suggested :) What am I showing here (and should be showed in future contributions, I think): * Typeset for the name * Logo, according to the typeset * Monochromatic variations * Black background variations * Logo alone, so it can be viewd as a potencial "icon" Note: all of those logos can have 3D shading effects, like emboss or stuff like that, but first the logo must "win" in the most basic form: 2D, flat colored and no sparkles. Hugs and kisses, Leandro Now, one by one! 1) The small "L" in the font type used motivated this logo, because it looks so much like a piece of film. I've tried with different colors, but I only liked it with the red one. The idea is to create a classic (both in font type and logo) feel, using a more old fashioned, yet elegant, approach. 2) This continues with the "film reel" concept. We see Lumiera creating a stylized reel of film at the end or, as a variation, a reel of film creating Lumiera - depending on the position of the logo in the typeset. The shape also suggests DVD's or Lens. It works in different colors. An advantage I see in this idea: we could use a different color in each future major release. Example: Lumiera v1.0 would be red, v2.0 would be green, etc. 3) The old Three Lens Camera concept. Do you remember those? :) The choice of colors is, I think, obvious: the primary ones. The font type was chosen to give an 80's feel. 4) It's just number 3 in different - more modern - font type. Bye bye 80's, hello 2008. ___ Cinelerra mailing list Cinelerra@skolelinux.no https://init.linpro.no/mailman/skolelinux.no/listinfo/cinelerra
Re: [CinCV] More logos for Lumiera
sorry to be so short.about logo 1...not much to sayi like it Vale yes, I like that too, the best one so far, great work. Thanks. Some suggestions (dunno how it looks, just ideas): * make the 'l' in the logo little bit smaller (or the box biggier) so that the red color flows around it. * experiment with different sizes of the dot in the logo (biggier) I'll do that. I even considered removing the dot and just leave the "l". I'll work on such variations. * correct the kerning between the m and the i, move them little closer together. * is the font designed by you? No :'( It's called "Shifty Chica". But we could try to do small changes to it, in order to work better. (well this are already suggestions about fine tuning if we decide on this logo, we are not that far yet, aren't we?) I hope we are :) I would like to see more proposals. I would even like to have more ideas :D Anyway, number 1 is also my favorite of this set. * in a huge (poster version) the logo 'l' might contain transport/ perforation marks, like a film. maybe not just interested how that would look like. I thought of that, but gave up on the idea before trying because I thought it would be too obvious. But I'll give it a try and post the results.
