The financial difficulties are no big issue compared to the
administrative difficulties. cinelerra.org needs someone who will work
a few hours every month to keep the things running and up to date.
Thats *much* more valuable than money in the current situation.

Also I have to explain how the server is currently financed:
cinelerra.org is *not* a public organization which can collect
donations. So far (and I hope in this will work in future) there are a
loose group of people. I've rented a server and some people give me
money for hosting vservers on it on a private/non-commercial basis.
This is all a private thing, nothing tax deductible and neither I,
nor someone no one else, except the hosting company, making any profit
from it. I can not ask for donations and at least if anyone wants to
cover the server expenses this should be coordinated in a transparent
way. I now pay for the server and I am rather more uncomfortable
with the opposite when strangers send me 'donations' and no one else has
some insight into this.

Ciao again!

I forgot to add that at present I'm in the middle of an international
film festival organization and I have no mental energy left for Cinelerra.

I could do any work or migration only in June.

happy to donate, considering the years of use I have obtained from
Cinelerra.

cinelerra.org is maintained by a loose group of community people, see
below.

If Adam is not on this list, does anyone know his current email
address?

i think the email address from http://heroinewarrior.com/support.php
should still work.

Who is currently leading the unofficial version (or who is
maintaining the web presence)?

I am responsible for the server where the cinelerra.org website (and
nameserver) is hosted. When we started the Server years ago I
stated that I don't want to be involved with the cinelerra.org webserver
maintenance (it's a vserver instance on that server).

Currently there is no lead or admin for the webserver. Since some time
I am planning to write some "Angry Mail" about the current situation of
the cinelerra.org server to the mailinglist, in recent years hermanr
covered the expenses (about 11Eur per month meanwhile), but the server
is now in debt for some time. It would be nice if some people will jump
in here and donate some money to keep the server running.

Further, what nags me MUCH more:
The cinelerra server is in dare need of some administrator. Juan who did
that recently stepped down as he has no time for it currently. We
really need some dependable admin to take care of it! There are long
overdue updates and maintainance works left out. The wiki and the
bugtracker gets spamed and no one cares. If this Situation does not
change I cant see any solution but to disable the services which are
abused (trac, wiki). If anything else fails there, gets hacked or some
desaster strikes cinelerra.org will be history!

I really do not want to do this job but I am willing to give anyone who
wants to help here a hand. We really need someone wo takes care to keep
the Lights on.

The Situation for the nameserver is different as it runs on another
vserver which is properly maintained any if anyone wants to keep the
cinelerra.org domain up and runnning (I just checked, it's payed by
Richard until Januar 2014) just contact me about the ownership
transition, we/I can do all further nameserver maintenance. So whoever
gets the domain he only needs to be responsible for funding (or be it
by donations) everything else is carefree.

Ciao!

I'm happy to maintain the domain.
As for the administration, I can maintain it but only if we move to more
self sustained platforms, like moving Track to Launchpad bugtrackers and
so on.

I'm already looking after Linux Stopmotion (a very small, quiete and
relaxed community) and this model seems sustainable even for not so
active communities.

I don't have the technical expertise or any of the skills needed for
administrative tasks, etc., but I was unaware there were financial difficulties
with regard to maintaining the server. I am not in a particularly good
financial situation but this program and its maintenance is important to me,
and I would be happy to contribute at least a small amount monthly to its
continued existence. How much money do we need to be raising, say, on a
monthly, or annual basis? Could this be done via Paypal? Perhaps a donate
button on the main page?
