This is a bug in the CV version that was fixed on Oct 7 2005 (revision 676).

[CinCVS] Some Cinelerra newbie questions

2006-08-10 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] geerts
Hi all,

I've been working with Cinelerra for a month now, and I'm impressed with
the features and overall quality of this product. During this time, I got
familiar with the majority of functions (and with video editing in general),
with tutorials such as "The secrets of Cinelerra" and the likes.

Nevertheless, I have several questions/problems which remain unsolved.
Most probably, some of these questions have been addressed in this
mailing list, but I couldn't find an easy way to search through the list. So
my apologies if I'm coming up with old stuff.

First of all, here's the setup:
AMD Athlon X86-64
Mandriva 2006 (kernel 2.6.12-12mdksmp)
Cinelerra 2.0 (build: August 27, 2005)

First major problem: keyframe edits are not saved, and (even worse)
are *all* reset to default when undoing anything. This way, hours of
painstaking audio or video adjustments can be lost with one
careless touch of the 'z' key. I suspect this is a bug, but I'm not
completely sure. Could I have missed some crucial setting?

Second major problem: very low brightness parts (value < 10) are
not rendered OK - the resulting DV seems fine in Cinelerra and Kino
(which I use for exporting), but after exporting the resulting DV output
to an external device (DV cam, HD recorder) the DV stream seems
completely messed up - instead of a black picture, the device shows
noise, or the last good picture. Everything is OK once the brightness
is over 10. This behaviour messes up zoom and title effects, to name
a few.

Third: has anyone managed to get IEEE1934 DV import/export to a
DV camera (Sony DCR-TRV19E, PAL, in this case) working? I tried
all kinds of settings, but the only thing I got working was the AVC
controls.
This is less of a problem, because I use Kino for import and export,
but it would be nice if I could handle everything from within just one
application.

These are the main issues; I hope that there's a solution, other than
switching to the latest version.

Thanks already for any help, regards,

Richard Rasker
