logging buffer : percentage on free memory [7:18299]
Hi all, I am managing a WAN network for my company and there are total 15 routers (different models). Can anyone pls tell me which command is the most suitable to determine the free memory? coz I need to allocate some for the internal buffer logging. Is it sh memory? sh proc cpu? Besides, how many percentage of the free memory can be utilized for logging without decrease the router's performance? Thanks in advance. Regards Alvin Chong CCNA __ Do You Yahoo!? Logging in Cisco Router: Will it decrease router's performance? [7:17833]
Hi all, I am now monitoring a WAN network's internal security, especially in tracing unauthorised users' login, and the configuration they have changed. I have 2 options here: Option 1 : redirect the syslog message to Linux box Pro: easier to manage, need not connect to router Con: need a linux server Option 2 : keep log in router Pro: dont need extra linux server Con: log message size restricted Doubts: Most probably I will choose Option2 but my worry is "will the logging process affect the router's performance? especially the memory of router.." Thanks for helping. Regards, Alvin CCNA __ Do You Yahoo!? Get email alerts & NEW webcam video instant messaging with Yahoo!
