Hello All,

I am looking for some sniffer software that could show me a list of MAC Address to IP Address mapping of my network.
I checked with the trial copies of CNAPro and Sniffer PRO would could not find the functionality.
Can anyone suggest.

Thanks & Regards
Amit

The Response time of pinging from switch to switch is not slow

Hi,

I am preparing for the CCNP Exams. I would like to know the reason for the following messages i am getting on my 6009 switch.

2000 Nov 07 01:43:37 %PAGP-5-PORTTOSTP:Port 2/32 joined bridge port 2/32

This results in frequent disconnections from the ports.
Need your suggestions

Hi ,
How can I find out the collision rate of .1% ( comparing the collisions with Output packets or bytes)
Here's the output from my ethernet interface

 119069488 packets output, 3373784736 bytes, 0 underruns
31 output errors, 41597688 collisions, 0 interface resets
 0 babbles, 0 late collision, 5543538 deferred

Thanks

Amit

The network would be considered unhealthy if it is experiencing more than
.1% of packets colliding (do the math). As for your question regarding
what does it take to shut a port down (errDisable) take a look at this

|ethernet segment does it take before having a problem??  I was just
|invovled in a situation where we had a hub hanging off a hub connected
|to our 6509.  The switchport error disabled and I had to track the
|devices down. I beleive you will always see some collisions in a shared
|ethernet environment???  At what collision rate should you get
|worried???  How much does it take to shut a switch port down???

RE: Intermittent connectivity loss [7:14416]

2001-07-31 Thread Amit Gupta (EHPT) IS-IT

Hi Daniel,

We had a similar situation few days back. Users connected on One of our
switches were complaining of intermittent loss in connectivity.

We had a problem with the GBIC port on one of our Catalyst switch.

I understand you to say that there are two 5505s on each
floor. Half of the
users on each floor connect to each 5505 through a single
vlan. Each 5505
connects to a 6509.
Has anyone changed the config of any of the switches lately?
Any hardware
changes?
Thinking intermittant hardware failure.
Do all the users on a floor who loose connectivity connect
to the same 5505?
Does the aggregate of all users on all floors who loose
connectivity connect
to the 6509 through the same blade via their 5505s? Any
error messages on
the 6509? What's the uptime? What does a show log provide?
What is the bandwidth of the links between the 5505s and the
6509?
If gig, do you have any spare GBICs? I have heard reports of
failing units.
Any construction in the building? How about lots of dust in
the wiring
closets?
Any commonality to the electrical feeds for the switches?
UPS or not?
Can you log error messages to a syslog server?
