Re: RE: My interview story [7:40553]

2002-04-05 Thread Anna Janowska

Guys;

This scenario sounds like something straight from the
book of my Project Management Course. Spelunking and
Forest fire are the two other scenarios our groups of
us were testing and developing our IT Project
Management egos, we also get to play with logo blocks.
It does work. I was as surprised with this approach as
you seems to be, but it got me on a right track. It
allows to qualify the project management skills.

Kind Regards, Anna

I know personally I wouldn't respond to such an
 interview
well. If someone wants to test my creativity and
troubleshooting, then they should mock up a lab and
 throw it at
me. Perhaps that's because I'm not used to the idea
 of being
 psychologically tested during an interview.

What's next, ink blot tests? Values clarification
 drills?
Written personality tests? I can see it now:
 We're sorry,
you're an INTJ but we really want an ESTJ for this
 position.

Okay, I've got to stop answering email this early.

Why would you want to work for a place with such
 stupid
interviews in the first place? If they select
 their
 employees
based on how they play Stranded in the Desert or
 whatever
 the
heck that was, then it's probably best you don't
 work there.
I'm sure the management there is awful.

Stuff like that is a sure sign their managers have
 too much
time on their hands, and there's almost nothing
 worse than a
clueless manager with too much time.

Someone needs to send those managers a Dilbert

I'm sorry to hear it didn't go well, but you
 should forget
about them and move on to a better company.

CCIE Candidate versus CCIE [7:426]

2001-04-12 Thread Anna Janowska

Hello Everyone

Just wondering how many people are passing the lab
test recently.
This is current head count of CCIE's according to
cisco 5595*.
Does anyone in a group remembers how many were there
last year.
The wait for the lab extends is almost double of what
it was last year which is clear indicator more people
are trying. I am just curious if there is also clear
indicator of candidates increase in number of CCIE's.

Regards to all, Anna

ECP1 enyone taken ?

2000-08-07 Thread Anna Janowska

Hi list

I am putting together the plan of attack on passing
the R/S lab, I have quite a lab at work and can work
most of the labs on my own, however, I would like to
take a training when I am about ready to reinforce and
hard code the approaches to the labs. Basically I wish
to have some training similar to a real thing, and
know it all mentor that will ensure I know all I need
to know and will asses my readiness.

If there is a gentelman or a lady who took Carslow's
ECP1 or has better suggestins can you, please, voice
you opinion.
Some people at work took the ANEW I and II with Global
Knowledge, but I think I can do these on my own.

Appreciate any help, Anna

RE: Thank you list

2000-08-02 Thread Anna Janowska

Thanks Chuck

I will research your suggestions in the next little
while, I will take CCND exams in August and then lab
and lab only. I am so lucky to have the gear and such
a strong support from my company. I think there is
always a little bit of trade off with everything, my
pay can use an improvement, but I am not complaining,I
consider myself very fortunate.

The books I have use to prepare for this exam were:

All in one CCIE Study Guide by Roosevelt Gilles -
first three chapters, pices from the rest of it, you
can't say it is not in detail.

Bridges, Routers and Switches for CCIE by A. B.
Carslow
not in depth but read needed pices, will read for the
lab over and over untill I got the carma.

Routing TCP/IP volume I by Jeff Doyle
Cover to cover reads like a novell, although, I can't
say I still remember how novell reads or is it novel.

The most help was from good soul and friend Jean van
Eeden who lend me CCIE Prep kit - you can get one on
the Amazon.com, it is 400 pages summary, it does not
go too deep into subjects and it is not enough to read
just that but it is great to read it just a week
before a big day, it has all that is required on the
test ( but as I mentioned not enough detail to pass).
Jean also offered a great support as a friend and that
is priceless.

You will also need to know RIF in and out I mean you
will need to translate the RIF and know cannonical to
non-cannonical translation of MAC ( ether to token).

There is also a big brother cisco with all you need to
know and it was big help to me.

A groupstudy list is just priceless in tips on books
and where to find stuff, it takes so much time to
search for stuff I know because I started CCNP track
without being hooked up to this list and I can say it
made a huge difference in how fast I am progressing in
my cert. and how much it cost me.

I hope it helps, I did not post the details of my prep
before because it seems as it was already done,
frankly I followed the mailings from others who pass
CCIE written.

Good luck with your study, Anna

This is the famous Caslow class. Caslow himself
teaches it much of the time.
About a six month waiting list, and recommended that
 you take the class
about 30 days before the lab ( gives the brain a
 chance to absorb )

I recall Joe Martin saying that Cisco actually
 offers some kind of pre-lab
class, given in San Jose. Have to check with your
 Cisco rep about it. I
 can't find the reference.

Brad Ellis [EMAIL PROTECTED] is associated with one
 of the bot camps. He
might be able to fill you in on specifics.

I am hoping to pass the written in October.

 Best wishes
