Wireless LAN for Home [7:44234]

2002-05-14 Thread Bolton, Travis D

Guys,

Any suggestions/experiences on what to buy for a wireless network device for
my home? I'm thinking about the Linksys with the 4 port ethernet model.
Thanks for the ideas...

RE: TFTP Server [7:48763]

I use the Solarwinds TFTP server and have never had a problem with it
either. I also like the pumpkin tftp version as well.

I agree - Pumpkin.
Every one of our engineers use it now and never heard of a problem.
Also supports multiple simultaneous TFTP - not sure if this is a feature of
others or not. don't suppose it's that much of a selling point, but the
reliability is.

Pin Out for Old 1900 Switch [7:50266]

2002-07-31 Thread Bolton, Travis D

Team,

I have a old 1900 switch that I'm trying to console into but can't with my
standard 9pin adapter. This 1900 has a 9pin male connection for the
console port. I'm use to connecting to a RJ45 connection. I was told that
I needed a special adapter to console into it. Would anybody have the pin
outs for me so I can make my own adapter. Thanks for the help.

Yes I talked to Dennis for Boson #3 and he is updating his version weekly.
It's nice to know that I don't have to purchase it again down the road.

507 and 560 Content Engine Issues [7:71374]

2003-06-25 Thread Bolton, Travis D [ITS]
Team,

Is anybody having issues with their Content Engines having a lot of hard
drive failures? If you don't and you are using 507 and 560 series CE's
then can you provide me with what IOS you are currently using. We are
having tons of issues with these hard drives but Cisco at the moment
can't provide us with a reason why until they get some EFA results back.
I want to make sure this isn't a IOS issue by chance. Thanks for your
help in advance.

RE: can I use a /31 subnet to the link between 2 routers eth [7:55479]

2002-10-12 Thread Bolton, Travis D [LTD]
I would still use a /30 mask if I was using unregistered IP's. If I was
using standard IP's then maybe I would think about using the /31.

Well, if you work it out:

Obviously the first three octets wil be all 1's, so if you look at the
last octet:

1110

Which = 254. This only leaves you with 2 addresses per subnet, and since
you need one address for the Network address and one for the Broadcast
address, you no longer have any addresses you can actually use.

A 30 bit subnet, where the last octet=

1100

Equals 252. This means you have 4 addresses per subnet. Taking away one
address for the Network and one for the Broadcast address, this leaves
you one address for each end of the link.

So I am not sure how you could use a /31.

I used thought it shoul be /30 mask subnet...
but recently I saw some guy said: use /31 subnet to save the address
I really confusing me...

Thanks.

When you take the recert exam for your CCNP do you have to take it before

Hi Group:

Well, not sure if this would be an email that I should send or not. I
have been laid off at Sprint in KC about 2 months ago. I never have went
to get my Cisco certification but am working on getting my CCNA before
the test (640-607) is discontinued. I worked in the Router group at
Sprint LDD (Long Distance Division). I installed, configured and
troubleshot all Cisco Router issues. I worked with 2500, 3500, 7500
series routers.

I have been contracted the last couple months with Time Warner Cable
working in IP department in Kansas City, Missouri but it was only a 2
month contact and last Friday was my last day. I am looking for a new
position. If anybody has any good ideas in Kansas City, Springfield or
St. Louis, Missouri I would welcome the opportunity or even Columbia,
Missouri. I will email my resume upon request.

Thanks,
Todd
