Testing Software Needed for 640-925 Content Networking [7:64361]

2003-03-04 Thread Bolton, Travis D [LTD]
Team,

Does anybody know where I can find some testing software for this exam?
Boson does not offer it and I'm having problems finding anything relevant to
this exam. Also, if you have already taken the exam could you please let me
know what resources you used to pass it. Thanks for your help in advance.

CCNP Recertification [7:62038]

2003-01-28 Thread Bolton, Travis D [LTD]
Team,

When you take the recert exam for your CCNP do you have to take it before
your cert expires? If your cert expires before you take that test then does
that mean you need to retake all 4 exams again?

Laying Cable Accross the Pond [7:59971]

2002-12-30 Thread Bolton, Travis D [LTD]
Team,

I was just having a discussion with a co-worker about how companies lay
cable across the pond and how they troubleshoot cable splices etc. Does
anybody have any documentation or Video they can share on this? We're just
curious on how all this works. If you do this type of work let me know.
Thanks in advance.

Console Port Switch Needed [7:58143]

2002-11-26 Thread Bolton, Travis D [LTD]
Team,

I'm looking into purchasing a console port switch for some of our sites.
I'm currently looking into the Dataprobe 4P-MAS model but I thought it was
pretty expensive. Does anybody have any advice on what product they use?
Thanks.

RE: can I use a /31 subnet to the link between 2 routers eth [7:55479]

2002-10-12 Thread Bolton, Travis D [LTD]
I would still use a /30 mask if I was using unregistered IP's. If I was
using standard IP's then maybe I would think about using the /31.

Symon,

Reference RFC 3021

Using 31-Bit Prefixes on IPv4 Point-to-Point Links

Well, if you work it out:

Obviously the first three octets wil be all 1's, so if you look at the
last octet:

1110

Which = 254. This only leaves you with 2 addresses per subnet, and since
you need one address for the Network address and one for the Broadcast
address, you no longer have any addresses you can actually use.

A 30 bit subnet, where the last octet=

1100

Equals 252. This means you have 4 addresses per subnet. Taking away one
address for the Network and one for the Broadcast address, this leaves
you one address for each end of the link.

So I am not sure how you could use a /31.

I used thought it shoul be /30 mask subnet...
but recently I saw some guy said: use /31 subnet to save the address
I really confusing me...
