OFF SUBJECT -OSPF Timer settings on Bay

2000-12-28 Thread Cooper, David

Howard and group...
Anyone know where can I find the recommendations for tuning the
timers(hello, dead, retransmit etc) on the OSPF process on NBMA and P to P
links (frame relay) on Bay Routers?. I am having a problem with inactivity
timers and I read in your book Mr. Berkowitz about the Bay recommendations
but was curious were I could find those you cited in your book. Thanks in
advance.

RE: Cisco CIM's

2001-01-05 Thread Cooper, David

I recently accomplished the Expert Labs IP Routing CIM and was a little
disappointed. If you have online access to routers everyday I wouldn't waste
my money. The CIM said the 5 labs would take a total of 4 hours to
accomplish and I did them in less then 2 (and that was while taking a dinner
break in the middle.) The CIMs are good for CCNA type who have little or no
access to routers but I fail to see how they would help for the CCIE exam
and lab. They need some work to actually challenge you.

MNCS + Security [7:1860]

2001-04-25 Thread Cooper, David

I have received multiple answers to the question about the + security cert
for CCNP. I guess the best question is has anyone that is a CCNP and taken
the test after 1 Jan 2001 gotten the +security cert? I have read through
the old posts and I have not found anything definite in them and most of the
direct answers were 50% yes and 50% no?. Anyone from CISCO know? The Cisco
web site isn't much help either other then the other specialization's retire
on 14 May. Thanks. Sorry to beat a dead horse.

Specializations MCNS-Response from Cisco [7:1959]

2001-04-25 Thread Cooper, David

Dear Dave,

Thank you for contacting Cisco Career Certifications and Training.

The CCNP & CCDP Specializations will retire on May 14,2001. The Cisco's
Qualified Specialist designations will be replacing the CCNP and CCDP
Specializations. Cisco Qualified Specialist designations demonstrate
significant competency in specific technology areas, solutions, and/or job
roles. Individuals who have earned an associate level career certification
are eligible to become qualified in these focused areas. With one or more
specialist designations, network professionals can better align their core
expertise with current industry needs.

CCNP or CCDP Specializations obtained before May 14,2001 will be valid for 2
years from the date achieved. There will be no recertification option when
your Specialization expires. Candidates may choose to test for a Cisco
Qualified Specialist, if one is offered, in your preferred field. CQS
currently offers a variety of specialist designations, which includes,
Cable, Security and SNA/IP. Additional designations will be introduced and
made available in the future based on market demands. For more information
on the Cisco Qualified Specialist program, please visit the following URL.

The Cisco Career Certifications Training Team

To put the MCNS +Security Specialization question to [7:2098]

2001-04-26 Thread Cooper, David

Dear Dave,

Thank you for contacting Cisco Career Certifications and training.

Being CCNA or CCNP you need to take all four exams to be a Security
Qualified Specialist. MCNS is the first of all four exams. The may 14th
deadline is for specializations that are retiring only. Security is not one
of them. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us
for assistance.

Best of luck with your certification goals.

Kind regards,
The Cisco Career Certifications Team

Anybody know what the best material to study for this exam? I am working

already. Is the MCNS book good enough for this exam also. I noticed alot of
redundancy between the Firewall and MCNS exams. Thanks
