Line Redundancy [7:73931]
Hi all, I need some Line or Internet redundancy for a relatively small network. We currently have a SDSL line from speakeasy which resells Covad. I need another type of line that would remain up if this line went down as it recently did. Now they believe me about redundancy! To my understanding it is really difficult to get different connections in the last mile? From the CO to the site. Nonetheless any redundancy is better than absolutely none. I think T1 is a choice as it is logically different. Still may not protect me in the last mile but better than nothing. The T1 would become the primary connection with the SDSL becoming the backup. Id like to use a 515 to bring in both lines. A phone line would not meet the requirements needed. I understand having a ASDL line and SDSL line would use different hardware. This would be a choice if I cannot get the dollars for the above. We are still a small company. Maybe 50 employees, but growing. what other choices might I have? I'm in the California bay area if that helps. Thanks Keith J. changing routers [7:73131]
Hi List. I currently have a linksys with IP x.x.x.178 the new box has and ip of x.x.x.179. My problem is my mx record is set to 178 and I have already setup VPN using the 179 address on the new box. We have a consultant saying that we can add the 178 address to the outside interface which also has the 179 ip address. Is this true So that would mean my outside interface has two IP x.x.x178 and x.x.x.179 I would then need to forward smtp to an internal x.x.x.11 IP address. Can someone tell me if this is possible and if so how to do it. I was not aware that my outside interface could hold multiple IP addresses thanks Keith Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7i=73131t=73131 -- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
port redirection [7:73038]
Hi all I am switching out a linksys piece of shi% to a 501. We had someone come in and set it up because I am new to the firewall. I see a command Conduit permit tcp host 10.30.30.30 eq 1723 any and conduit permit gre host 10.30.30.30 any The IP is an example but I know this is allowing 1723 and gre. but it is just allowing to the 501 correct? A win 2k box is the actual vpn server so I need it redirected to lets say 192.168.1.11 I don't know what the eq means I want to do port redirection with static command. what would be the full command/s need to redirect this to 192.168.1.11 I know that it is not being redirected now because I see no reference telling it to do so or to what box. Do i have to have a fixup protocol tcp 1723 and fixup protocol GRE 0 ? then ip address outside ip address inside I believe the commands are static (inside, outside tcp 207.22.22.22 1723 10.30.30.30 1723 netmask 255.255.255.255 0 0 static (inside, outside) gre 207.22.22.22 0 10.30.30.30 0 netmask 255.255.255.255 0 0 what are the 0 0 for? are those two commands all I need to do? Access list or Conduit? [7:72514]
Hi all The boss wants to allow ping. In the website I found the way by using an access list. In another config I see a conduit is used. What is the difference between using a conduit and an access list to allow ping Is it that a conduit is to a specific host Rather than permit any? Boson for switching exam [7:46074]
Hi all Can anyone recommend what they think is a good test for switching exam. I have heard complaints about the different test. Test 1 people generally tend to be happy with.. Are test 1, 2 , and 3 Just by different authors. Or is 1 better than 3 because is has information maybe concentrated here or there. I need help [7:17713]
I want to get a IP address or small block of IP's that are registered. I'm not sure exactly how to do this and what it will cost. I own a domain already but it is hosted by a service provider. I know have dsl and a static IP for that but I will want to host my own stuff soon. Don't know how to do it. I have knowledge here and there but feel there are wholes. Can some please describe what I must do to get 3 -5 legal ip's and eventually setup my own site and host my own services Thanks Keith Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7i=17713t=17713 -- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
