IP helper-address, domain browsing amp; NAT [7:36089]

2002-02-21 Thread Kurdziel Peter

Does anyone know of any issues using the IP helper-address and domain
browsing while using NAT?

I have 2 locations, CA and NJ.
CA has a connection to the internet, NJ does not. CA and NJ are connected
via a point-to-point link via their serial insterfaces. With the help of
NATting NJ now is able to access the internet via the router in CA.

My problem is that I need the servers at each location to replicate their
WINS databases. To try and solve this issues I added IP Helper-adress to the
serial point to point link on both side. If I remove the ip nat inside or
the ip nat outside command from either the fastethernet or the serail
interfaces I can broswe the domain and replicate the Wins database in either
location. But the NJ location does not have internet access.

What do I need to do to enable both browsing to and from either location and
Internet access at both locations.

Here is a copy of my config from both locations.

I don't know of any free ones. But routersim is ok.

Check ebay. You can get a decent router for a fair price.

RE: BCMSN practice tests? [7:25633]

2001-11-09 Thread Kurdziel Peter

I also read the BCMSN Ciscopress book and the ExamCram book. I've worked
with 2900xl,3500xl, and 5500 switches.

I like reading two books one technical and the other less technical book. I
also like using the cramsession study guides as a final quick read before
the test.

2 books + as much hands on as I can get + boson. That has never failed me.
I made it a habit to ask people what they used to prepare with to get an
idea of who best covers the subject.

Thanks.

1720 router with 2 T1's [7:15401]

2001-08-08 Thread Kurdziel Peter

I just want to make sure I can make this work.
I have a Cisco 1720 with 2 T1 DSU/CSU's.
I want one T1 will be a point-to-point connection going to another office.
The second T1 will be going to my ISP.
I want the point-to-point users to be able to use my ISP's internet access.

I will be using Natting. I assume I can get this to work with a modified
basic config.

Does anyone see any speedbumps I might hit?

RE: CCDA Exam

2001-01-10 Thread Kurdziel, Peter

Hey,

There is nothing that I came across that adequately prepared me for the case
studies. A lot of reading! I tired to draw out a map and add notes to it as
I read the case study. It helped me answer a few questions without rereading
the entire case study.

As for the practice exams, I really like the www.boson.com test.
There are a lot of free practice exams on the internet. Do a search and give
them a try. For me it's the more the merrier.

Sincerely,

I am preparing for CCDA Exam. I have passed CCNA. I heard that
CCDA is very difficult exam and you have to concentrate on case studies. I
am preparing from CDS (DCN) Book.. If you have a time than please send
me some comments regarding this exam I will appreciate if you can share
your experience with me.

Moreover which practicse exams are very close to real exam I know that
due to lot of case studies it is impossible to find any practicse exam which
is closer than real exam. But even in this case i you know any practicse
exam which is closer to your real exam than please let me know

Thanks

Subject: 2511 Flash Memory Question

Greetings All

I have a 2511 with 4 MB of flash in it. I need to upgrade the IOS needs
7MB. I tried canabalizing another 2511 I had and adding it's 4MB to the
1st
routers 4MB making what I believed to be 8MB. But when I tried to tftp
the
new image over I still got an error saying not enough memory, and yes I
had
opted to erase the flash first. When I went and looked at the flash the
router saw it as two 4MB cards instead of 1 8MB.

What do I need to do to get the flash blended together to act as 1 8MB?

Thanks
