In my opinion, it depends on how you view your role and your capabilities.
Sure, if you narrowly define your role as working for dot.com's and
start-up's then sure it would affect you. But if you see your role and
capabilities as movable, to say...a corporation environment then no.
Enterprise networks are not going away. If anything, they are becoming more
complex and will need support staff who are capable of supporting them.
Just never stop learning and you will be fine. I thought this discussion
already came up over the weekend. :-)

Hasthis had an impact on your morale?

RE: ccie exam fee

2001-03-21 Thread Lim Jit Cheng

cisco have any reason for the increase? economy slow down?? hey, correct
me if i am wrong . they should make exams more affordable for people to
learn their equipments... common sense... if more people are familiar with
cisco products, it'll be more likely they'll advise their managers to
purchase it if they are worried of excessive CCIEs written... they'll
should raise CCIE written exam's standards inline with the lab ...

comparing cisco exams with other exams.. it's high.

There is no way to connect an ethernet interface to a serial interface,
they are entirely different technologies. Your only option would be to
add another router to do the media conversion.

Or, you could buy a hub/switch and use that to connect the dsl router,
the lan, and your 2501. However, that's not the greatest solution and
it doesn't really accomplish your goal.

John

I want to be able to plug my DSL modem into the serial port on my
2501,
leaving the ethernet port available for my lan. Does anyone know of a
converter/transiever that will allow me to do this?
Thanks in advance.

I don't think that particular product would work in this scenario. This
type of converter is used when you have a serial WAN link that you want
to bridge ethernet traffic over, making it transparent to your router.
Each end of the WAN link would have one of these and you would connect
it to the ethernet port on your router.

We have just recently used such a device successfully to bridge traffic
from Denver to Atlanta over another companies BAP (Big A** Pipe) .
It works great and is completely transparent.
