CCIE Security vs Routing & Switching [7:74664]
Any suggestions on which path to follow? Is it recommended to follow the routing and switching path first? PIX Question [7:65095]
I ran into a situation today where we had a machine that was trying to FTP through the firewall. We allow FTP outbound. The problem that came up was that the user had no idea that an FTP client was setup on his machine. The FTP client (spyware) kept trying to connect to a server (ispynow.com) using the incorrect user name and password. For every attempt an xlate entry was created. It created about 7000 entries in a matter of minutes. The firewall was paralyzed. I had to console in and look at the xlate table. Even through the console I had a hard time viewing the table. Is there any way to prevent this from happening again? This is the second time this year an incident of this nature with the xlate table has occurred. How can I monitor the xlate table for strange behavior? Hello group, This is what I have in my PIX log. The 64.74.xx.xx is a VPN gateway that has an interface on the outside and an interface on the inside. Re: Change the Bridge ID on a cat5k [7:41188]
Tisk tisk!! Hehehee, you cheated Tim. hahahaha. See, I have eyes in here too. Well, the quick answer is NOT POSSIBLE. The long answer is this: Cisco's Catalyst OS makes a pool of 1024 addresses available to the switch. The switch will assign addresses to each VLAN, PORT, etc. sequentially until it is exhausted. THe SC0 gets the last address in the first module's range. This is ALL BURNED IN AND NOT CHANGEABLE EASILY. Or so I have been told ... Hard answer is that it is doable in ENGINEERING MODE or something. So I am still digging for this. It is kind of interesting that Cisco itself has absolutely NO MENTION of the fact that it is not easily changeable :-( I mean on a router you just do: mac-address 0022.3344.5566 and bam! :-)) _ Manny Gonzalez ... Re: Undocumented iBGP Behavior (Confirmed by Cisco) [7:34535]
Is there a STOP command? Something to let us turn that behaviour off? The way I see it is, if the router with the 104000+ routes suddenly dies, the other router (the one with 700 routes) has to then get all these routes from it's remote-as peer and that could take a while (if never, or until refreshed) Unless I missed something in your email, this is not what would like my routers to behave like... :-)) "W. Do you have a router configured as a frame switch ? It seems to me that you are missing the most important part of the puzzle. Re: MCSE OR CCNA
one has very little to do with the other. I would recommend that you try to obtain your CCNA. CCNP
I have only been in the field for 6 months now. I am going to start studying for the CCNP exam after the holidays. I plan on taking the BCMSN test first. Can anyone offer any advice on how to go about studying for the exams? Are the Cisco Press books good study guides? Should I invest in the CIM software? Any advice would be helpful. -- Regards, Manny Colon Computer Services Information Builders Inc. _ FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
