CCIE written using the univer cd?

2000-11-14 Thread Peter Abraham

It is my understanding that the univer CD is a very good resource for
preparing for the CCIE written exam. What is the univer CD? How may I obtain
one?

Thank you.

Peter.

Telephone Switches -- -- -- PA

2000-10-06 Thread Peter Abraham

Hello everyone,

Does anyone have any information on installing, configuring, and managing
telephone switches (e.g. the switches companies like Verizon (Bell Atlantic)
install and manage? I am currently pursuing my CCNP and targeting a job in
the Telecommunications industry. Are there exams that will qualify me for
this market/industry?

Your information and assistance will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Peter.

BGP **** CCO QUESTION ** PA

2000-09-14 Thread Peter Abraham

All these are questions that I got from the CCO BCSN tests.

1. Which command allows Router A to advertise subnet 10.1.0.0/24 in BGP?

  A. network 10.1.0.0
  B. network 10.1.0.0 255.255.0.0
  C. network 10.1.0.0 mask 255.255.0.0
  D. network 10.1.0.0/16
  E. network 10.1.0.0 prefix 16

I have my answer as A. B,D, and E all have the wrong syntax. Is C right? I
know that the mask length for C is 16.

2. What is the function of the BGP atomic aggregate attribute?

  A. To indicate that the originating router has aggregated the routes
  B. To specify the BGP router ID and AS number of the router that performed
the route aggregation
  C. To specify the AS number of the router that performed the route
aggregation
  D. To specify the AS number of the router that performed the route
aggregation and the AS numbers of the non-aggregated routes

Answer: A.

I have searched the CISCO web site and cannot find information on BGP atomic
aggregate attribute.

Finally, how do prefix lists have support for incremental updates? Does
anyone have a simple explanation for this?

I appreciate your assistance.

Peter.

Re: Question for DR/BDR in OSPF

2000-09-12 Thread Peter Abraham

Doug,

I believe the answer is C. The order of promotion is always from BDR to DR
when the DR fails. If router B fails then router C will be the DR, and
router A which has just come up on the network then becomes the BDR.

Doug,
I see you're using one of your "lifelines"
I'd go with answer B make it your final answer.

Reason as stated in the ACRC book is "The only time a DR or BDR will
change is if one of them goes down. If the DR goes down, the BDR takes
over
as the DR and a new BDR is elected. If the BDR goes down, a new BDR is
elected."

Steve

This is a question for study purposes. I want to verify what I think
  the answer is:

Let's say Router A is the Designated Router with priority of 100 and
fails. Router B (Backup Designated Router) with priority of 90 becomes
the DR and Router C with a priority of 80 becomes the BDR.

If Router A comes back up on the network?
  A) An election held and Router A becomes the DR and Router B becomes the
  BDR..

  B) No election is held until Router B goes down. Then Router A becomes
the DR and Router C remains the BDR.

  C) No election is held until Router B goes down. Then Router C becomes
the DR and Router A becomes the BDR.

###----Understanding BGP---###

2000-08-21 Thread Peter Abraham

Hello everyone:

I am studying for the routing 2.0 exam.

Does any one have information on the following:

(1) the scalability problems associated with internal BGP.

I know that IBGP speakers have to be fully meshed. I am not too clear on the
reason behind this requirement.

(2) Redistribution between BGP and Interior Gateway Protocols (IGPs).

(3)When creating a prefix list, in router configuration mode with the
following syntax:

ip prefix-list list-name seq seq-value deny|permit network/len [ge ge-value]
[le le-value].

How would you assign the ge and le values?

Your immediate assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Peter.

2000-07-05 Thread Peter Abraham

Hello everyone.

I am new to this list. I am shooting for the CCNP 2.0 certification by
December 2000. Can anyone suggest routers, switches, and books that I should
be looking into. My desire is to setup a LAB at home. Take an exam every
month. I do not have the money for the CISCO 5 day classes.

Thank you.
