RE: New CCDP [7:63848]
From what I can tell, that is correct. Im about to take the CID myself, and it seems that if you complete it before its retired, you are CCDP for 3 more years. CID, No X.25/Microsoft/Appletalk/IPX? [7:63921]
I was reviewing the exam outline on cisco's site for the CID exam and noticed that it did not say anything about X.25, IPX, Appletalk, or Microsoft Networking. Have they removed this from the exam? I got my CCDP 3 years ago and now want to recert (I recerted my CCNP already so all I have left is CID). I have my old book, but it covers these technologies extensively and I dont want to spend extra time on those sections if they wont even be on the exam. I know the CID is about to be retired, so I want to hurry up and take this exam so I dont have to worry about the new one. Please help out if you can! Thanks! Cisco ATM Practice Test Now Available
Title: Cisco ATM Practice Test Now Available Hi guys, Sorry if this isn't group etiquite but I'm too excited about this :) While studying for the Cisco CATM test to become CCNP+ATM I was looking around for a practice test and could not find one. While at the boson site I saw that they took freelance test writers and decided to help myself study while also helping other people in the future that like practice tests like I do (and make some spare change in the process). It is not completed and available for download from the Boson site. I have always been impressed with their service and product so I had no problem associating my name with their product. I am very proud of this test and it contains 200+ questions for only 30 bucks. Sorry if I'm pitching this (I hate salesmen) but I just wanted to let you guys know that this tool is now available to all of us. And yes, I did pass my test :) Thanks, Aaron Prather CCNP+Voice+ATM, CCDP, MCSE, MCP+, Network+, MCNE4+5

NetWare 5.0 was RE: frame relay newbie question
Title: NetWare 5.0 was RE: frame relay newbie question Yes, you are correct. I am working on a large project for a county school system and they are currently upgrading all of their servers to NetWare 5.0 The funny part is that at first we were using IP/IPX in compatibility mode and then were going to phase out the IPX. But it was so slow that it was impossible to administer with all of the SAP's and what not still crossing the WAN. They ended up upgrading the WAN and not using compatibility mode and just using all of the SAP's for communication. I'm not sure if after all of the boxes are upgraded to 5 if they will still use IPX or migrate to IP. Novell has a ways to go in the IP world. So, yes, still expect IPX/SPX to be out there for a while. Aaron -Original Message- From: Richard Holland To: Chuck Larrieu; Dan West; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 5/30/00 9:37 AM Subject: Re: frame relay newbie question I wouldn't look to see IPX/SPX dissappearing anytime soon, It'll take a lot of time and money for a company or organization to convert their IPX network to IP, for example. (If I remember correctly Netware 5.0 and beyond uses and will USE IP from now on, phasing IPX out, am I correct?) CL: Yes. Why not? ( he asked rhetorically, meaning he does not expect anyone to answer ) I am only asking because in Lammle's CCNA prep book it is mentioned that one of the advantages of subinterfaces is that you can run IP on one and IPX on another. BUT, the example directly following that statement shows IP and IPX running on the same subinterfaces. CL: the lab is still down so I can't do a quick and dirty here. if we were running ip and ipx to the same location on different subinterfaces would we need two pvc's? can one configure the same dlci on two different subinterfaces if the other side is the same? pvc's cost money, normally. so why would one add expense for this sole reason? Cain't tell ya! but your question brings to mind a lab to try. More importantly, is IPX even going to be an issue much longer? CL: one can hope not, but then again, AppleTalk and Token ring are still around :- Thanks. __ Do You Yahoo!? Kick off your party with Yahoo! Title: RE: CCIE Written I agree, or even better, if he wouldnt have said i just got back from the CCIE written test and just asked the questions like they were general questions i would have never known and neither would anyone else and it would have been fine. So please, everyone in the future, if you are going to ask list members actual test questions, make sure that you atleast try to hide the fact that they are test questions. But still the BEST thing you could do is go look them up for yourselves :) Aaron -Original Message- From: William E Gragido To: Prather, Aaron; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 5/30/00 11:32 AM Subject: RE: CCIE Written Although I am not at the CCIE written level, I agree with Aaron in that the posting of questions that directly reflect/represent the CCIE written exam are exactly the reason that the test writers at Cisco have become indignant with Websites and forums such as these. RE: Value of Cisco certifications
Title: RE: Value of Cisco certifications I know this isnt really cost effective, but it would be nice to have a lab for your final test for your CCNP, make it not neary as hard or as expensive as the CCIE lab, but still should test your knowledge of actually configuring devices. Make it a virtual lab, because there is no way every testing center will be able to house equipment, it can be done if cisco really wants to... I think this would be a good test of actual knowledge and not just memorizing test questions. Aaron -Original Message- From: TyRhon144000 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 5/30/00 2:47 PM Subject: Value of Cisco certifications Is there any way Cisco can make their certifications challenging enough, that they can give a realistic estimate of a person's skills? I really don't believe that there is such a thing as paper-certification, everyone's certification comes on paper and everyone has to do some amount of study to get certified. Yet, as a CCNA myself, I would like for all of Cisco certifications to reflect real world knowledge. I applaud Cisco for making the CCIE as challenging as it is. I am also happy that just about every CCIE lives up to the NDA. If only those who have obtained other certifications from Cisco lives up to the NDA, then maybe some of their other certifications will not lose credibility. Is there anything, that we can do to preserve the credibility of Cisco certifications? T. RE: source quench
Title: RE: source quench Q. When does a Cisco router generate a source quench? A. Prior to Cisco IOS (r) version 11.3 and 12.0, a Cisco router generates a source quench only if it does not have the buffer space needed to queue the packet. If the router can't queue the routed packet onto the output interface's queue, it generates a source quench and registers an output drop against the output interface. If the router isn't congested, it won't generate a source quench. You can look at the show ip traffic command output for source quenches sent. Also look at show interface to see if there are any drops. If there are none, then you shouldn't see any source quench. IOS versions 11.3 and 12.0 don't include the source quench feature. -Original Message- From: kenny To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 5/30/00 2:59 PM Subject: source quench Hi all , Any body can help ?
