Internet control [7:52663]

2002-09-04 Thread Rodney Jackson

Guys,

I know this is off the subject but I hope some of you will help. I have
been tasked with implementing a way to filter Internet traffic (block porn
sites) as well as user authentication. I'm thinking about using Websense
but the cost is too much. What have you guys been using or recommend?

Rodney,

War Dialers are used to identify analog modems and isdn modems that may be a
point of concern within an organization, specifically if they are not
monitored or accounted for. Unless you have a ton of them out on your
network, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Its a good idea to conduct an
assessment though and evaluate where your organization is from a security
perspective and see if change is warranted.

Later,

Will

Here is the link for the hardware portion:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/pix/pix_60/install/boa
rd.htm

Watch the wrap. This covers the 535, 525, 520, 515 for upgrading circuit
boards (NICs). In a pinch I have used standard Intel NICs in the PIX 520 to
get it up and going and swapped them out after the "offical" parts came in.
I believe to keep your SmartNET contract it requires that you have Cisco
purchased parts. They give you Intel NICs in the PIX anyway so you should
be safe. I have no idea if there is a change in licensing or not.

Regards,
Ed

Our routers can't determine if the traffic is local or remote. So traffic destine for
the new company is never sent because the routers believe it's locale. I don't see
