Help! Need advice on purchasing ISDN simulator... [7:52178]
Hello all - I need to purchase an ISDN simulator and I came across this link. http://www.vconsole.net/simulator_isdn.html Should I take my chances with this cheaper product ($800.00) or should I stay with more expensive products such as: B Link2 ISDN Simulator $999.99 http://www.CheapISDN.com or Teltone's ISDN Demonstrator $1,855 http://www.teltone.com/telecom_solutions/test_tools/test_isdn-demo_features.h tml Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Hello All - I passed the routing and switching exam today. I wanted to pass on a big thanks to the group. You all have been very helpful. I used: Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert by Sybex Boson practice exams Token Ring paper by Lou Rossi www.cisco.com, www.cisco.com, and www.cisco.com :) Now on to the lab! CCIE Lab Purchase - Pots simulator - Need opinion [7:41128]
Hello all - Unfortunately, I do not have funds to go out and buy an ISDN simulator. I have been looking at POTs simulators as a very cheap alternative. I will still be able to do DDR, PPP, etc. Has anyone had any experience with a Viking DLE-200. It goes for around $135.00. Re: Back to back AUX port for DDR? [7:40689]
Check out these websites - I have not used them so I cannot tell you if they are good products. Hi, Does anyone know if its possible to configure 2 aux ports on 2 diffrent routers, connect them back to back for DDR routing? I have seen some configuration for this, but I suspect that you need 2 modems and 2 phone lines, can someone throw some light on this subject? Any responses much appreciated, TIA _ Do You Yahoo!? Re: ISDN Switch - Teleos [7:39556]
What about the SIMLINE 2 ISDN Network Simulator? Has anyone used this one? Check out: http://www.cheapisdn.com I haven't priced ISDN simulators yet though I think the url is trying to tell us something :) This one goes for $1,400 but you can get it on ebay for around $750... Any comments would be appreciated. Scott Chapin, CCNP On Tuesday 26 March 2002 12:43 pm, you wrote: Does anyone know of a good ISDN simulator ? I have a co-worker who bought a Teleos Switch, but documentation is not easy obtainable and it appears a complex device. Since the Teleos switch is not a sim, but an actual ISDN switch I don't know anyone who has ever used it. If you have any information on the Teleos products or a ISDN sim please respond to this note. I am in the process of putting a CCIE lab together and the ISDN switch/sim appears to be the hardest component to find. RE: OSPF !!!
Tim - What do you think about just entering the shutdown command on the interface that the current DR is located? This of course will depend upon your network and may not be an appropriate idea. Once the DR is down, the BDR will be promoted and a new election will take place for the new BDR slot. (This of course assumes that you want the current BDR elected to DR.) Once the new election has taken place, you can issue the no shutdown command on the old DR. ""Cthulu, CCIE Candidate"" [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote in message [EMAIL PROTECTED]">news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]... Elias, I am going to display my awesome lack of OSPF knowledge in public, so bear with me:) The ip ospf cost and ip ospf priority are interface specific commands: unless something drastic has happened at Cisco, you can not enter them under the ospf process configuration mode as implied here. Priority only affects DR elections: it has no impact on route selection. Cost is a trickier one, but generally speaking, it does affect route selection. If you have two routes to the same destination, you can set the cost of one higher than the other, and the lower cost one will be preferred (assuming it is up and operational, of course). OSPF calculates the cost of each interface using the formula of interface bandwidth/100Mbps; the resulting number is the cost of the interface by default. You could also indirectly set the interface cost by setting the bandwidth of the interface higher or lower using the the bandwdith command: OSPF will then calculate based on that. I am not going to get into load balancing between interfaces to the same destination because, frankly, it's beyond the scope of my brain. I hope the previous info helps even a little bit. RE: ip unnumbered
Another thought - You want to keep in mind though, that for troubleshooting purposes, you lose the ability to ping the serial interface because it is ip unnumbered. (IE you would be pinging the lan interface not the serial interface.)
