CBAC and DOS attack [7:9748]
I have some trouble in understanding how to use firewall set(CBAC) to limit half open inbound sessions from Internet. First you have to identify traffic ip inspect name myname tcp then you have to put it on interface. cisco examples show only one situation when you need to allow sessions from your local LAN. So it is not clear should I apply inspecting to inbound traffic on serial int. or outbound for ethernet int. Did anyone deal whis it? IPSec question [7:10965]
I have some problem with IPSec. When I ping addresses between LANs they reply a few times and then die. To make it reply againg I have to clear route cache and after some pings it dies againg. Anyone had that problem? An external modem needs to be initialized to auto-answer in order to dial-up to work. So when I swith modem off and back on I have to manually do ats0=1. Is there any way to make it more automatic? Thank you for your reply. The problem was solved but I have another:) I have some static NAT translations and when I try to connect or ping host trough IPSec tunnel using its privet address NAT occurs and packet is no longer can go through tunnel. You have to make sure that udp 500 and protocol ids 50 and 51 are not blocked. To start with I'd recommend to permit all traffic between IPSec hosts. IPSec problem [7:12463]
I have a very strange problem with IPSec, namely with ISAKMP. When it is time for next key exchange between piers (one in an hour) it goes well without any problem but all IPSec traffic is droped with messages like CRYPTO_ENGINE: packets dropped: State = 0 conn_id=2000, pak=81749C44 when I do "clear crypto sa" it starts working till next rekeying. Why could it happen? Does anyone have in production cisco ipsec LAN-to-LAN tunnel? It's part of IOS seems to have so many bugs.. when you do it with IKE (ipsec-isakmp) cisco workaround is to reboot router. Manual keying (ipsec-manual) does not work at all with error IPSEC(manual_key_stuffing): Can't get valide engine id 0 My IOS version is 12.0.7T.
