Re: Bridge and switch [7:44649]
is it good to say that Bridge supports up to 16 ports ans is software based. but Switch supports any number od ports and is hardware based. Peter van Oene wrote: This begs the question, what is the difference between a multi-port bridge and a switch? Or, what is a switch when it routes? I personally think bridge and router convey with relatively little ambiguity the function of a device whereas switch is simply a tool that marketing folks use when they need to reverse their previous opinion on devices. IE, after telling folks routers are better than bridges for a few years (in order to sell routers), when it becomes more lucrative to sell bridges again, one can simply call the bridge a switch and superficially maintains ones integrity. Furthermore, when it becomes more lucrative to sell routers again, one can simply call the router a layer 3 switch and again perform the switchback without visibly contradicting ones previous assertion. I think the chain looks something like this bridges - routers - switches - l3 switches - etc etc At 04:02 PM 5/21/2002 -0400, MADMAN wrote: Switch = mega interfaced bridge. Re: CCNP BSCN Passed [7:44541]
My exams had 69 questions and equally distributed amont ospf,IGRP and BGP. Test was not easy for me.It covers in depth details of BGP and EIGRP configuration. It was based on conceptual questions, ofcourse with many odd balls for me because I don't have the hands on experience much. I will suggest go through the details of the tutorial available in cisco website before going to give the tests. Thanks [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: What did you think of the test? Did it seem to have a good mix of command based and conceptual questions (plus a few oddballs of course). I've been studying for about a month and think I have good feel for the concepts though I couldn't tell you all the options of the redistribute command. Re: CCNP604-503 ( Routing Exam) [7:43895]
HI , I HAVE TODD LAMMLE'S CCNP ROUTING GUIDE. I HAVE STUDIED THAT. IS IT SUFFICENT OR I HAVE TO READ THE CISCO PRESS BSCN BOOK ALSO. PLEASE REPLY. -RAVI Tim Potier wrote: Buy the Cisco Press BSCN book... it has more information than you will need, but worth the price. BUT, since you are taking the exam next week, I doubt you have time to read the entire book... so I would go to CCO and look at the exam outline, and cram from online resources. CCNP -50o series test [7:41757]
Presently CCNP- 503 , 504 ,505 and 506 is only a written exam, but in near future it is going to changeto 600 series . So with this new pattern the exam will be written and Lab test or only the written exam. -Ravi Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7i=41757t=41757 -- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
WAN - serial link and RS-232 serial link [7:41670]
Why WAN connection is called serial link. Is it same like RS-232 serial link. If it's same then at a time we can transmit only one bit.In this case WAN link will be having slower bit transmission. or WAN - serial link and RS-232 serial link are different.
