Re: ARP question [7:21920]
The customer just told me they couldn't access the server and no hardware changes had been made. I can't see how clearing the ARP brought the server back to life... I can't recall the number of times clearing a cache had helped clear a problem. After all router and swithes are computers and a prone to get stupid periodically :-) dave John McCartney wrote: The customer just told me they couldn't access the server and no hardware changes had been made. ARP question [7:21920]
I have a question that is bugging me. I have a couple of 6509's that we have for customers. One customer wanted me to clear the arp cache so that a server would wake up. It worked but it also removed all ARP entries, is there a way to remove a single entry? I'm still kinda puzzled why this fixed the problem. Maybe I'm having a lapse of brain power. Any help is appreciated. RE: ARP question [7:21920]
John, To clear a single arp entry the syntax is clear arp . Where host is the IP address or hostname. If you type in the command then ?, the IOS will give you next possibilities. Hope this helps. -Junovtv Message Posted at: http://www.groupstudy.com/form/read.php?f=7i=21925t=21920 -- FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
