know BGP. also be able to distribute routes from ospf to bgp. It's a tough
test but it's doable. and the material you have should cover it as long as
you suplement it with isis.

2003-09-07 Thread Nick Ooka
Hello,

I passed the 640-901 in July. Routing TCP/IP Vol. 1(Doyle)
and Internet Routing Architectures 2nd Edition(Halabi)proved
to be a solid combination. Advanced IP Routing in Cisco Networks
(Slattery/Burton) was also pretty helpful.

I also used a couple of 2500 routers to practice really basic
OSPF and BGP configuration.

Good luck!
Nick

BSCI 640-901 [7:74922]

2003-09-06 Thread Kenan Ahmed Siddiqi
Hi there,
I have registered for this exam for the 22nd of this month. I had the option
of the newer exam (642-801) but I chose this one. The reason being the fact
that this exam covers more material than the newer one. However, I guess
there is a difference in knowing your technologies and passing a paper. :)
Anyway, I would really appreciate any tips for preparing for the exam.
Thanks a lot!

Cheers,

Kenan

I took the 640-901 on Aug 15th and it was tuff for me. A lot of BGP, OSFP,
and ISIS questions. I think I also had a couple EIGRP questions. There
were a few lengthy route configuration simulations as well as a few
subnetting/VLSM questions.

What books are you using to prepare for the test?

Hi there,
The book I am using is the Cisco book for the old BSCN exam. However, I am
reading stuff off the Cisco web-site because that is a good place. Also, I
am using Internet Routing Architectures by Sam Halabi.
I am looking forward to the simulations though because they are the ones
that seem to test most of your practical experience. Nonetheless, I have my
fingers crossed till after the test results come. :)

Cheers,

Kenan
