As Chuck indicated in his observation the relevance of MPLS and a good
understanding will provide the CCIE with a better chance of obtaining a
position with an enterprise corporation such as I work for.

This morning at 3:00 am PST (1630 pm India time) we cutover our last site
(New Delhi) to our MPLS Private IP network (PIP) this completes the
transition of approximately 20 of our domestic sites and over a dozen
International sites to this new technology.

MPLS along with VoIP will surely provide the employer with a more qualified
technologist and any prospective job seeker a much better chance in
obtaining
employment in a tight market.

Ray .. CCNP, CCDP and CCIE candidate

Thank you Chuck.

I am planning to integrate MPLS into my lab studies anyways. I think it
would provide a very a good multi-protocol lab scenario.

Re: MPLS in the lab [7:30393]

2001-12-28 Thread Chuck Larrieu

while I can't comment on what I did or did not see specifically, I did
re-check CCO to see what they say. Nothing specific at all, really. And to
be honest, I do think that Cisco could be a bit more forthcoming publicly.
Last I saw in the Networkers CCIE Power Session presentation, MPLS was not
specifically mentioned. But in theory, based on CCO, Cisco could test you on
anything whatsoever that is possible on IOS 12.1, be that NTP, multipoint
GRE tunnels, IRDP, static routes, and so on.

I can say that Lab nothwithstanding, MPLS is The Next Big Thing, if customer
inquiries ( and silly rfp's ) are any indication.
( I have four sites I want to connect across the internet using MPLS because
it's more secure than using firewalls and access lists )

Which lab? I can tell you that in the C/S lab, it is a core skill. Dunno
about R/S, haven't done that lab in awhile.
