Ask your router. I did, and it said: % Configuring IP routing on a LAN subinterface is only allowed if that subinterface is already configured as part of an IEEE 802.10, IEEE 802.1Q, or ISL vLAN.
:) In other words, secondary IP addresses will do just fine. And btw you can have more than one per interface (up to 255, or so?). You might also want to check out the other thread about encapsulations and such.
