my mistake then - certainly didn't use to a while back.  good that they do
now as I really like them to bump up port density, even if you need
different cables

WIC-2T  will works on 1700, 2600, 3600 series but it will never work on 1600
series accroding the following document.

Be caution, for 1700 adn 3600 is depend on the IOS version, the above
document explains the detail.
