It looks like a good deal but I'm skeptical since you have to buy one more
selection within a year. Is this selection just a single textbook or one of
their kits? I would call them to verify.

RE: A Good Deal??? CCIE Books for Peanuts? [7:8387]

2001-06-13 Thread Hire, Ejay

I've dealt with these folks in the past and they are a reputable company.
It's like the BMG subscription music service. 12 cd's for a buck and then 2
more at regular prices

It is possible to get an really good deal using the book club, buying the
minimum required number of books, and then canceling your membership.

About 1.5 years ago...
I got the MCSE 4.0 exam cram box set, plus another book for ~$16.00 as part
of the special offer. I bought 2 other books (Ip routing protocols & Sams
Teach yourself linux in 24 hrs) for a grand total of around $80.00. If I
bought everythign seperately Box Set + 3 books, it would have been +$200. I
saved $120.

Good Luck,
Ejay

BTW, I was really unimpressed with the Prentice Hall Ip routing Protocols
Book. Has anyone else read it?

2001-06-13 Thread hal9001

Oh well thanks for the positive feed back I've had a good look at all their
offerings in the IT field and they do seem to have alot of good deals. We
have something like this in UK but at much inflated prices due I think to
our market size.

I would have thought that they act as a bucket shop for books which have a
quite limited market but need a large print volume to be economic.

Still I wish you all well with it, if it gets you certifications and jobs
and money then it was worth the post.somebody spammed me with it...got
through the filters I suppose.

2001-06-13 Thread hal9001

Well this is what it says direct from the site..
If you decide to take one of these offers, you simply agree to purchase 1
additional selection over the next 12 months at our Member's Prices, which
are up to 50% off the Publishers' Prices. A shipping-and-handling charge is
added to each shipment.

So I guess a phone call to them would not harm, but if that is the case that
it's just one other book in that 12 months I think your laughing?

RE: A Good Deal??? CCIE Books for Peanuts? [7:8387]

2001-06-13 Thread Tom

You only have to buy a book. The prices aren't overinflated either. You
could get them a few bucks cheaper, but when you factor in the "Cheap" kit
it's a good deal. Watch the shipping though!

Also, if you sign up a friend, you get more "Free" books, just pay shipping.
