To be fair, the CCNA is an entry level exam. If you are experienced, it is
a piece of cake. Cisco has designed the exam for Level 1 support
opportunities. Learn well and good luck on your journey.

All depends on how much experience you have with Cisco products and overall
network knowledge. If your looking for a career change and plan on taking
the CCNA exam as your first IT Cert, it can and will be a very intimidating
exam. For those of us who have been in the field for a few years and have
experience with Cisco equipment, the CCNA exam will seem pretty painless.
But enjoy it, because the moment you leap forward to the CCNP exam, there
are no more easy rides!

In my opinion, switching is the easiest of CCNP's exams, routing is the
hardest. You will also meet a large amount of topics in remote access.
As to the overall difficulty, it depends on a product. Windows NT server
can be run by any idiot, and usually is, however to fully understand the
psycho's delirium you must be a doctor.

All best wishes,

easy is a relative term. if you want to increase the difficulty, you can do

be enough to keep you busy for 3 weeks.

Re: Cert Difficulty Comparison.

2001-02-27 Thread Kevin Welch

Depends on experience. If I worked in marketing I would probably think that
the Cisco tests are difficult. If I have 5 years of related industry
experience, a good understanding of troubleshooting methodology, and know
how to properly take tests... yeah they are a walk in the park. Its all
relative.

Another note, you mention that you are a MCSE. Alot of the concepts on the
CCNA test relate very closely to the MCSE TCP/IP Fundimentals course (or Net
Essentials or whatever they are calling it these days). Not everyone goes
into the CCNA having a firm understanding of the OSI model and how to relate
network protocols to it. I am curious to know if you have any real world
experience in the areas of Switching, Routing, Remote Access, and
Troubleshooting? Difficulty is a relative term... if the test was easy then
you did a good job studying.

I like to force my opinion on the importance of design to everyone I can,
having a good understanding of design and design concepts helps in many
ways.

My 2 cents.
